Olympus c-31o My digital camera has all of a sudden stopped working. The problem is the zoom lens is stuck out and will not go back in, also the digital screen is only a white screen and will not change. Please Help!!!!!

My C-310 had no XD Card installed when I switched it to macro program - and then everything was blocked - no reaction to even switching it off!!! After taking out the batteries for the first time, waiting a while and re-inserting them, I got a white screen and still no reaction to anything I tried. After a second battery removal, not even a white screen - the camera seems completely dead while the lens is still out :-(

Well just send it to a repair centre, some times is the mainboard or u can try to knock with camera on the floor, use a piece of cloth on the floor.

I have an Olympus SP 320 camera, zoom error comes up and it shuts off

I just pulled my 320 out after not using it for 4 months and the lens extended and zoom error began flashing on the screen. After reading a few other post on the net about how much it cost I decided the camera was a goner. For good measure I banged it on my mouse pad a couple times and the lens suddenly retracted and it is now working fine. Doubt it will work very often but might be worth a try. Make sure you hit it on something soft to prevent other damage.

You can replace the lens on the camera through a authorized service technician, but often with digital camera repairs the cost of the repair exceeds the price of the camera. I would have the camera looked at by an authorized service tech.

Zoom malfunctioning

This sounds like there is debris lodged in the zoom gears. Been to the beach lately? The gears in the zoom mechanism are very small, and even a tiny spec of sand or other debris can jam them up. Alternatively the sensor inside the lens that feeds back the position of the lens to the control circuit may be failing - so the camera thinks the lens has retracted all the way and stops. If the stoppage of the zoom action is abrupt then it is probably debris, if it is a smooth stoppage like the camera is stopping on purpose it is probably a position sensor.
