I have a problem with my Brother HL-5040 laserprinter: There was one paper stucked between de components of de rollers. I pulled it out very carefully - no problem.  But now the lights "STATUS" and "PAPER" still keep flickering. I can't print no  more! I've checked the rollers on and on by pulling out the inkcartridge but nothing seems to help. Please help me to store this problem... L?kas Belgium

Hi...

disconnect the power and usb cable from the back of the printer and press and hold down the power button for 30 sec and then reconnect the cables and try again...open the backdoor and try to move the rollers in upward direction.

I amusing a Brother HL-2140. Recently, the paper curls up and gets stuck in the tray, and will not move forward. I have cleared the pat several times, but the paper is stuck in the rollers, and it tears...

Turn off the machine, > Open the front cover > remove the drum, cartridges, > and check if you can see the jammed paper or not, if so pull it out slowly. If you can't see the paper, close the front cover > Pull out the Tray completely > and once again check if you can see it or not, if so pull it out. Still it's not there? then install the tray and open the back door > pull the tab to open the fuser unit and pull out the paper, you can also pull out the fuser unit.

KNOCKING SOUND AT WARM-UP AND DURING PRINTING. DIRTY SMUDGES ON PAPER. I CLEANED ROLLERS I COULD FIND, BUT PROBLEM PERSISTS

sounds like you may have a flat spot on fuser pressure roller causing a knocking sound as it warms up and when it prints. You may need new fuser assembly...

Brother Laser 5040 says there is no paper when there is plenty of paper. Have checked for jams and recently replaced drum and toner.

Unplug the printer for about ten minutes. This will clear the NVRAM in the printer. That is where the paper jam's are stored if they get stuck in the printer.

How to clear paper jam in HL 5040 laser printer

Clearing paper jam in a printer is simple almost seven step procedure.
i. Put off the printer.
ii. Open all the covers/shutters on the printer (usually one in front or top and one at the back.
iii. Now pull out the cartridge carefully.
iv. Site the paper that has jammed and pull it out in the opposite direction of its movement. (Pulling the paper in the opposite direction is important for the printer mechanism).
v. Return the cartridge and press it firmly inside.
vi. Close all covers.
Power on your printer and you should be able to print again.

Strong Noise on Brother HL-5240

Make sure the end tab in the paper tray is not too tight. The tab where you set the paper length. The paper should have about 1/16 inch space and not hold the paper too tight.

I have a paper jam on a HL-5040 where I can see the paper under the toner/drum. The Brother site suggests pulling the paper up and out once the paper tray is removed, but my sheet of paper won't budge at...

I consulted the Brother site again but this time I researched just how to remove the drum. This page has nice drawings that show how to just pull it straight out! They explained the blue button on the right is just for holding the toner in the drum. They also showed, a very important piece of information, where to place the hands as well. I did it slowly because the jammed paper seemed to be 'stuck' to it. It came out easily, with no real force required. I removed the paper and slid the drum back into place. Quite simple once I could see how to do it without risking damage to the printer!

Paper tray is full and the paper light keeps flashing.

First check the machine for paper jams. If not, remove the paper from the paper tray and reinstall it. Then try to print from the MP tray.If this works, check paper size settings on the printer driver, or the small black arm which hangs down next to the paper pick up roller, and is the paper sensor.

Badly jammed Brother HL 5040 B&W laser printer

If you remove the drum unit and cartridge it will all come out in one go.

Open the right hand end. The black T700 cartrige will be seen and it looks as if it is screwed in. However it is NOT just get a firm grip and pull the entire unit out (It snaps in and is quite tight... keep pulling it will come and there are no clips to break as you pull)

As it is removed, all the paper will come out in one go. A bit daunting if you have not done it before. Refit is the exact reverse, push it in quite firmly and it will latch back in place with a pleasing clunk! Hope that helps.

Paper stuck in Brother HL 2040

suggest you see the on-line manual (you may have downloaded it to your pc also as I did). It shows that you can open up the front and the back. If that isn't good enough...
1) if it is wrapped on the back, orange, roller, hold down on the blue 'tabs/levers' on either side of the orange roller to release the pressure so that you can pull it out.
2) you can pull out the toner and look in there (remember to press down on the blue 'tab/lever' before you pull the toner out by grasping it in the middle - the paper may be easier to see/reach that way.
