I have a Roper refrigerator that is about 10 years old. It was in storage for about 5 years. Since then the ice maker does not work. There is water in the line going to the bottom of the refrigerator, but no water goes past the valve/solenoid into the line that goes up the back of the fridge to the ice maker. Does anyone know what part I need? Is it universal or will I have to purchase from Roper? Is it difficult to replace?
SOURCE: ice maker leaking water after replacing the solenoid valve two times
maybe the solenoid stays on too long during the fill cycle.. broken gear maybe or out of adjustment

CAN YOU HEAR THE WTR VALVE ACTIVATE OR TRY TO SEND WTR TO ICE MAKER HAVE YOU CHECK THE FILL TUBE INSIDE FREZZER WHEN THEY FREEZE INSIDE TUBE WTR WONT BE DISPENCE INTO MOLD

According to the manufacture, you must wait 24hrs to reap the benefits of the automatic ice maker. I was helping a friend the other day install a water line to a side by side unit that had been running for well over a week and after turning the water on we got no ice. We contacted the manufacture and they said "there is a 24hr waiting period". This makes no sense. I wasn't trying to get a gun permit, just ice.

When I leave the ice maker arm in the down position, the solenoid on the back of the refrigerator becomes hot quickly. I cannot hear any kind of click or sound to indicate that the solenoid is opening or closing. The tubing on the back of the refrigerator is clear and I can see that there is no water getting past the solenoid.
