Dometic Fridge Intermittent on 120V

I have a 1 year old Dometic DM2652. The fridge works fine on propane but when on 120V it will cool down properly (ice freezes quickly in freezer, fridge is 1-2 deg C) then after a while (a day, a week) it will stop cooling completely. I have confirmed the following: - the resistance of the element is correct (44 Ohms); - 120V power is getting to the heater element; - the correct current flows thru the heater (2.6 - 2,7 Amps) - the element and boiler tube are hot even when the fridge is not cooling. So far no-one has been able to explain or resolve this problem. It's driving my wife and I crazy!

I have contacted Dometic customer support by email and they say they are "unable to help directly due to liability concerns". They insist that a repair technician investigate and send their results to Dometic. I have had the RV into a tech twice for this but of course it did not fail while they were looking at it. I am taking it back in again next week.

The dometic fridge you mentioned was outsourced by Dometic and they are having problems. (unit 2652) call dometic at 18888674188 and give them your mod and serial number.

SOURCE: i have a dometic dm2652 rv fridge. its new and is

The DM2652 comes with an optional cooling fan to help with cooling the amonia. The fan cycles on and off as required as it has a tempeature sensor (thermistor). We turn ours off at night by removing the inline fuse (glass tube fuse 3 amp) located in your outside acces panel. The fuse is located in a black fuse holder with a re wire connecting both sides.

SOURCE: Just bought a Dometic DM2862

While there is some fluctuations in temperature in Dometics from night and day, but it is usally the reverse of what you state. Warmer in the day time when the unit is opened more. I would check the temperature settings and if they are correct then check the thermostat.

My dometic refrigerator DM2652 is cooling in gas mode but will not switch to AC. The unit is getting power but the "auto" light will not come on.

That fridge has 2 elements. A 12v and mains 240v/120v. Sounds like the mains element or the fuse has blown. The fuse box is in behind the fridge at the bottom. Follow the power cord to the box. There should be 3 fuses. Check them all. Using a multimeter, check the readings of both elements. Google " Dometic Service manual DM2652 pdf" and page 11 should help you.

Freezer works fine on propane but not the fridge

You may wish to check the flue clear anything that you find. Old birds next etc. Also make sure the flame and orifice are clean free from debris or rust. Propane should burn blue not orange. Incorrect gas setting if the flame is orange. Some yellow at the tip is ok. Proper adjustments are critical. Have you tried the unit on AC?
Other tips I have read indicate possible freezing in the back.
Defrost freezer completely as some here mentioned and restart see if this helps. Here is a good RV forum I saw good tips worth investigating.

If your not comfortable cleaning the jets and adjusting the flame have a professional do this. Safety comes first!
Good luck!

My dometic fridge will not turn on

Check to see if you have a switch for storage, on, off etc. usually between doors, or near top right corner of fridge compartment. It may be in wrong position.

I am new to the RV world. I have Dometic DM2652.

Yes, you can operate the fridge on propane while driving, instead of running the generator for electric operation. However, you should have a dual tank setup to prevent running out of propane.

Propane tanks with OPD valves aren't holding a true 20 lbs of LP, but rather only hold 17-18 lbs of LP. However, if you're swapping/exchanging your tanks instead of having them refilled, you're only getting 15 lbs of LP in the tanks these days, (check the label at the bottom of the tank to confirm). Hence the reason to have a dual tank setup on your RV to get longer run times.

I thought you might want to have a tech manual for your fridge, so here's a link to the Dometic site, you just need to select yours based on the manufacture date, etc.

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!
