My notebook (Compaq R3000) wont run with out the battery and when the battery is instaled it dosent seem to charging, the power light (comes on when power cord is plugged in just flashes when the computer is turned on... if the power is off the light stays on untill I try to start the computer.
Make sure the new A/C adaptor and battery are working correctly.then check the charging circuitry or power distribution in the laptop
This can be caused by:
1.The monitor is not connected properly.
2. Bad hardware
Verify that the monitor is properly connected in the back of the monitor as well as to the back of the computer.
If the connections are OK it means that monitor or the video card is probably damaged. To test which component is dameged connect a different monitor to your computer or connect your monitor to a different computer.
If the other monitor works on your computer it means that your monitor is bad and if your monitor works on another computer it means that you probably have a damaged video card.

Good evening Arapa, Before I went any further I?d make sure the new A/C adaptor and battery are working correctly. Over the years I?ve had many brand new or refurbish parts wind up not working. Also verify that they are the correct ones for your laptop. The next candidate is the charging circuitry or power distribution in the laptop. Since it involves major disassembly I don?t usually recommend this option to the typical user unless they have experience working with and handling electronics, a good mechanical aptitude and are willing to live with the results of damaging the laptop beyond economic repair. Most times a local factory authorized and trained tech can give you a good estimate of what it will cost and save you the cost of buying test parts you may not need.
