Terrible Smell There is a terrible smell emanating from my machine. I have tried products to clean drum etc but still did not help. The smell is like a wet dirty mop. Can you help me with a solution?

Soda crystals  -  whole packet about the same size as a small bag of suger - into the drum -select 90 degree wash with NO prewash -let it run through . very hard too get rid of smell completly but if u repeat the process a few weeks later and do a hot wash[90 degrees] at least once a week you should notice the difference ---  hope this helps

I understand that problems with smell are to do with bacteria that build up when low temperatures are used most of the time. Try doing a hot wash occasionally without clothes. That should eliminate the smell. You may want to do it with a biological liquid too.

Most of the time this smell can be taken care of by adding white vinager to the wash cycle through the soap dispenser whil e it is running. you may have to use quite a bit to do the trick, and even run it through several times. the second thing you can do is if you arent already, leave the door ajar when the machine is not in use so it can breath so to speak. hope this helps

SOURCE: Terrible Smell

Try a Quarter cup of dish washer detergent and a hot wash. this will flush out the inner bowl. Make sure you use the powder only and watch for over foaming. You might be getting a funny smell from the fabric conditioner. This stuff forms badly to the side of the bowls like glue. You couild take the bowl to pump hose off and clean the system out including the pump making sure you unplug the washing machine first. I would personally flush it out two or three times first. steve NZL, keep it simple

Terrible smell from the washer. This is a new

do not use baking soda this will react with your detergent and leave smelly deposits and reduce the wash performance modern good quality detergents contain everything needed for a good wash result and a sweet smelling machine. try a hot wash with detergent and an empty load to get rid of smell.

Terrible smell coming from our washing machine

remove bottom cover at back of machine, loosen large jubilee clip on hose between drum and pump. pull hose down and off, take out strainer basket and pull top off, clean top, ball and basket by running under tap. clean out hose with an old rag. reassemble strainer and put back into hose, in the correct position. fix hose back on to drum and tighten clip. run machine on a hot wash and all should be fine.

Terrible smell in washing machine

I used white vinegar in the machine and did a full wash.
I am subsequently not using a softener in the machine as I have found out that this is what caused the smell.
I now use white vinegar instead of softener and this has solved the problem.
