My mp3 player frezzes whwn I turn it on. It just shows the title screen showing the name and model. I tried replacing batteries but the problem is still there. My computer cannot detect it when I plug it inj either.
I have the same problem with my m250 it's 4 weeks old. I talked to tech service and they said if you take the battery out and hold the power button down for 30 sec. then turn the player hold button on (orange showing) then plug in usb cable and pull up My Computer. If the computer does'nt recignize the m250 it's bad. So then you have to send it back to sandisk and the will send you a new one after the receive yours. So I'm guessing your without a player for 4-6 weeks! This stinks to say the least!
I just got mine replaced by Sandisk (after emailing back and forth with Sandisk's tech). It's running firmware 3.X. BTW, you can't update to 4.x. I tried it. The site won't let you. It seems fine except when I first tried loading songs on it. It doesn't separate them into Album/Artist etc. I tried it on two different desktops running Media Player 11. I finally tried it on my laptop running the same software it worked. I'll keep testing this one and provide update periodically.
Hey, I got the same problem. I got the first one from Amazon. The second it starts freezes up. Amazon replaced it with another one. I used it for about six weeks. It has the same problem. I think the M250s are all defective

Turn off the Sansa. Just pull the battery out for a second.
Plug the Sansa into a computer, and open "My Documents" in the computer.
Open the Sansa file as if it were a drive, then go to the "MUSIC Specific storage" file.
Right click the "MUSIC Specific storage" file, and press "Format."
This should hard reset the Sansa m250. I do not know if this will work on other Sansa m200 type .mp3 players. You can start over with your playlists. This has worked for me.
it could be the classic lockup that these players are famous for but usually they botup to the sandisk screen and then its a brick, anyway try a total hardware reset by:
1 taking out the battery.
2 holding the powerbutton down for 40 seconds
3 waiting 5 minutes before putting in a fresh battery and starting over.
