Sounds like the cable box is outputting in 4:3 rather than 16:9, it should also output in either 720p or 1080i/1080p. Check the settings on your cable box and set them to 16:9 and 1080i/180p. If that does not rectify the problem then you need to look at the settings on your Samsung
No, you cant. I have 2 tvs just like yours but the LN model is newer than the SP model tv. I have the same problem, my LN tv has a cracked screen and the other SP model is good
You need to set the TV to input from the source that the computer is connected to.
You also need to make sure the computer is set to output a signal to it's S-video or video out port (usually Fn F5 or something like that, or there may be an software switch in your desk tray where it is to be tripped.)

If you have the knowledge you could do this, but I would recommend it other wise, there is High Voltage to deal with. I hope this helps. Merry Christmas!
The symptom sounds like a common problem we have found with the plasma panels called diffusion.
The cure in Samsung usually is a VSCAN alignment.
Since its an SPS-4243 the unit should be under warranty and is covered. Call 1-800-SAMSUNG and they will direct you to the nearest service center.
