I have the very same problem with the very same model. I don't think it is residue because in my case you see the levels changing as you adjust, it's just that it doesn't affect the screen display at all.

every time i turn on my coputer the contrast keep popping up on the screen when i exit it comes back up

Pincushion and h-size won't change, h-position seems to work. I've checked all the diodes nearby the HOT and found nothing wrong, checked the high voltage capacitor, and it was ok and checked the pack of mosfets, they were ok... but keeps on failing.

Changed the TIP122 and worked. It was not short-circuited but most likely to have a severe leakage.

It sounds like this needs component-level troubleshooting, probably in the signal section. It might also be loose connections or residue of some kind in one of the switches or on the switch board.

The image is getting smaller

If in the horizontal direction your line output stage requires attention, new line output transistor/ capacitors etc. If in both dimensions probably a power supply fault.

When you push the power button on the monitor the green light comes on for a few seconds then goes to yellow. Any ideas? It is a Dell e773c connected to a HP Pavillon 700

Please check the vga connection cable. It may not connected to the computer. If you have dual monitor support (2 monitor connection on the PC) try other vga port.

My Dell E773c Monitor's image is like a "hyperbola" wider at the top and bottom and narrower in the middle. The Horizontal adjustments do not do anything to correct the problem, Help!!!!

Try to do a factory reset (look up "recall" in the manual, or here:
If this does not help, you need to adjust the geometry settings (H/V position, H/V size, rotation, trapezoid, parallelogram, pincushion and pin balance) using the monitor's settings menu. Expect a long afternoon of fiddling around until you get a satisfactory result. A test picture for geometry settings could be of help.

Make sure your computers video setting does not exceed the monitors specification of 1152 x 864 @ 75 Hz.

Problem with Screen in Horizontally Reduced

Set the screen resolution on the computer to some place like 1024x768. Use the menu buttons to resize the screen screen.
If the monitor is not keeping the settings it can be an indication to get a new monitor.

Pincushion and Horital Size Problems

This is a hardware based issue, and sadly cannot be fixed without sending it to a service center. If you really want to, you can send this monitor to a service center, but it will be around 100 bucks to fix. I would say just replace it with a smaller LCD panel. They can be bought for around the same price, and they'll save power too.

Dell Monitor E773C

on dell monitors they have buttons on the front (at least the old ones do).   If you can't see things on your screen like task bar on the bottom, or anything on the top and sides --- try adjusting this buttons.  They control vertical size, horizontal size, etc. -- also position on the screeen    If you accidently hit them (I did) it throws everything off.
good luck

Monitor settings can't be adjusted

You may need to check the resolution for your graphics card. Check the display settings in the control panel.
