Question about Clarion DXZ945MP CD Player

Display probs My problem is with the display on the faceplate, there are horizontal lines that are darker than the backlighting of the display, they span the entire width of the display and the entire hight, and are spaced equally apart.It is very annoying as it blocks some of the text& makes it almost impossible to operate the unit, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry, I can't really help you on the one, all I can say is that I have the exact same problem but it's intermittent. Very strange, sometimes it'll only be on line or two...sometimes they're darker than the screen and sometimes they're lighter...

Could be your display panel. check all your connections between the T-con & display panel, look specifically for corroded contacts at the panel plug, if you have that, try to clean those contacts.

If that doesn't cure it you may need the display panel. This would not be cost effective unless you found a used unit with a known good panel & could purchase very inexpensively.

Why is my picture darker than normal
It may be the backlighting has been readjusted by someone other yourself. Whenever you go on battery, I'm sure you've seen the screen darken a bit. This is the backlighting being turned down to save battery life. There is usually a blue function "fn" key that allows the user to brighten or darken the display. Look at the blue icons in the F1-F12 keys. The one to brighten the display looks light a sun and the one to darken the display looks a full moon eclipsed. Press and hold the fn key and tap the desired function key to brighten or darken the display.

Display disappeared but the backlight, radio, cd and everything else works ok.
Could be the LCD or the display processor. If it's an 06, there is a possibility of liquid damage to the faceplate PCB .

The tubes are horizontal but require disassembling the cover and the inverter
board completelyfrom the chassis. There were 17 of these flourescent tubes stretching the ful length horizontally. They are so fragile.

Your display is faulty. Check out ebay for a replacement. Changing the display is straight forward. If you get your display we can instruct you on replacing it.

I can't see haif the display!
Latte makes several mp3 players. If you have the Latte Neon, you will need to go into the settings menu and adjust the backlight settings:

Brightness control: +1, +2, +3, +4, +5, the higher level, the brighter
Backlight display mode: Normal and Energy-saving modes. Set as no operation and only darker display in normal "Backlight Time", and it will close the display if you set as Energy-saving mode.

If you have the Latte Ice, go into Settings --> Display and adjust the same settings as above.

Faceplate display backlight out
Your display lights are burnt out. This is a common problem. It is covered under warranty. Send it to Sony for service. Anyway, under the Sony faceplate there are two small, different colored leds which control the color. The light is aparently transfered through pieces of clear plastic (best example I can think of is the piece of plastic over the led in a household smoke alram)to most of the buttons and the backlighting. If your display has burnt out you may just be able to swap the leds for new ones. As for the intermittent green could it just be a faulty solder on the board.
