Make sure you are not touching more than one finger two you touch pad. You can disable multi touch gestures from the system preferences pane.

And also insure that your trackpad is clean as sometimes that will prevent the pad from detecting you pressure.

Cursor is stuck in the middle of the page and will not move to the left side. The back space button or the shift left button do not respond?

You've probably "frozen" your pane. "Freeze Panes" is a feature which allows you to keep one or more left-hand columns or top rows visible while you scroll through your worksheet.

When you ac

You didn't say which version of Excel your're using, but in Excel 2007, you can either freeze the Row 1, Column A, or any number of rows and columns based on which cell is selected (i.e., where your cursor is) when you click on "Freeze Panes."

In Excel 2007*, the way to fix this would be to click on the "View" tab, then the "Freeze Panes" icon, which will give you several choices. Click on "Unfreeze Panes." There you go.

* The steps are similar in other versions.

Sony laptop bios freeze before bios displays led lights on

I just got started John, lol! Glad you fixed it!

Get the manual in me pocket right here,

http://www.tim.id.au/blog/tims-laptop-service-manuals/#toc-sony

{Okay maybe I've been watching too much comedy lately}

Scroll down to the line that starts with the blue - VGN-A
Scroll across, and click on the blue - VGN-FS

[Ignore if you are aware;
This is a PDF file. The computer you are using now has Adobe Reader on it, which uses PDF files.
After you click on the file name {VGN-FS}, it may take up to 30 seconds, before the first page comes up.

Hover your mouse cursor towards the middle/bottom. The ghosted out Navigation guide will now appear. Click on the Adobe PDF icon all the way to the Right.
If you hover your mouse cursor over it, Show Adobe Reader toolbar, will briefly appear.

The Zoom In icon at the top ( + ) increases the view size.
The Zoom Out icon ( - ) decreases the view size.

The Adobe Reader page number box is at the top, to the Right of the Down Arrow.
You can use the Down Arrow to go page by page; or if you know the page number you want you can do this;

1) Put your mouse cursor in the Adobe Reader page number box.
Left-click once. (Anything in the page number box is now highlighted in blue)

2) Type the page number you want.
3) Press the Enter key.

Primer over.

There's your disassembly instructions, should you decide to clean the inside, and replace Thermal Paste.
USE an ESD wrist strap, and connect it's alligator clip to a good ground source.

Average cost is around $3 to $6.
I connect to an unpainted surface, of the metal frame of an open, empty desktop computer case.
You can also set a large metal serving tray (Unpainted), on the table you're working on, and connect to it.
Or a large metal knickknack. (Unpainted)

Use an old credit card, or similar, to scrape off the old Thermal Paste.
Scrape off as much as you can.
If there is a Thermal Pad, peel it off, fly it at the cat.
They are J-U-N-K, and can't be reused anyway.

Follow with Q-tips dipped in Isopropyl Alcohol. (Rubbing alcohol)
93 percent is best, but 70 percent will do.
(IMHO 50 percent = No. 50 percent water, and 50 percent alcohol)
Also; takes a LOT of alcohol soaked Q-tips, as it's usually a gooey mess.

CAUTION!
Isopropyl alcohol is EXTREMELY FLAMMABLE!
Use in a well ventilated area with NO sparks or flames present.

The cooling system, or Thermal Module Assembly; consists of the copper Cooling Tube, finned Heatsink, and Fan Assembly.

Just a light coating of dust can drop the cooling capacity tremendously.
Laptops usually get to this state before the problem is caught,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AkAeE5I5E_A

Your laptop draws air in from the bottom.
Dust, dirt, hair, lint, food crumbs,.......you name it, can be drawn in.
I suggest a small soft brush, (Makeup brush?), Q-tips, and a can of compressed air for computers.
I do Not suggest using a vacuum cleaner.

Tighten the screws holding the Thermal Module in a crisscross fashion. Do NOT overtighten.
The small plate area on the Cooling Tube, MUST sit flat on top of the Processor. Same for plate on graphics chipset.
