I can look at past pictures on the LCD screen but the camera won't come on to take pictures....I have replaced the batteries and nothing happens....I can work the menu button also....It is just not coming on when I put it on other than to view previous pictures.....Prior to that problem I noticed that the camera was not always focusing right....not the lense doen't come out at all when turned on...
I have a similar problem I used the camera last month and downloaded the pictures I took with no problems. I went to use it again last night and the lens will not retract. I can view the pictures I have already taken but when I try to take another picture it comes up with an error message "front cover open".
I have already had to return the camera to fuji to have the lcd replaced and the picture imaging device which were replaced free of charge May last year as this was a common problem with this cameraI have a similar problem I used the camera last month and downloaded the pictures I took with no problems. Get a microfiber cloth (piece of cloth normally sold with reading glasses) and wipe on the lens with it. This will remove the smudge/ dirt/ finger prints etc. on the lens. You have to switch on the camera so the lens is extended and reachable.
Sounds like you accidentally pressed the DISP or DISPLAY button on the back. This manually turns the screen on/off to save batteries. Just press it one more time to turn it back on.
You can't change the lense, it will be out of focus sometimes. The focus is set electronicly at the factory. Go into the setup screen and initialize the camera and see if it will fix it.
Whats your camera make / model?
I have found this problem in the past mainly on samsung cameras. All I found was bad connections and poor solder joints.
connection problems with ribbons mainly. Samsung seem to prefer tinned ends as opposed to gold plated ribbon connections and these are just waiting to discolour and then fail.
Bad connections will drain batteries very fast and especially if your using cheap ones
hi the problem is going to be with the lense motor jaming and not letting the lense come out all the way to switch the camera on to take pictures what should happen is the lense should come out all the way the go in just a little bit so that it focuses it does this so that it resets the lense for when the screen comes on. If the camera has been put down with the lense out and any pressure has been put on it and put the lense out of line then this will cause the problem your having. But the even bigger problem is their is no way of repairing it as most shops dont repair the smaller digital cameras so the chances of getting someone to look at it is a bit remote. The only thing you could try is when the lense comes out try and pull it gently a bit further and see if that lines it back up as their a sensor on it so that when the lense comes out it switches the camera into the mode to take pictures but you can acess the pictures with the lense in so you know the batterys fine and that the circuit board is also fine. It just the lense i know you cant get replacement parts for your make and model the only spares you can get is batt and cards so gently pull the lense if you can you cant damage it anymore than it is anyway can you. Let me know how you get on ok.
see this post.... samsung camera problems turns out there is a problem with a chip in the camera that breaks. it costs about $200US to fix dozens of other models and customers have the same problem.
