Does anyone know how to do it????? When I change the extension alone, I cannot edit it.

VRO files are the "raw" video data in the camera. Most devices or software won't recognize this format. I believe movieAlbumSE has a sub program built in to allow you to transfer files from the DVD r/ram disks to your hard drive. When it does this, it makes them into mpegs that are dvd player/ software compatible.

I have a Spny HDR-SR8E Video Camera. Can these images be edited using IMovie 6.03?

Should be yes. if you can't import directly and get iMovie to convert properly or import the files to your hard drive and "image" them so that iMovie will recognize them for "Import from Camera" and properly convert them, then I would convert manually using Voltaic for AVCHD and MPEG Streamclip (with QT MPEG-2 PLayback component) for MPEG-2 SD content in DV or AIC/AIFF editing or iSquint for MPEG4/AAC or H.264/AAC editing in iMovie.
Hope that helps.
Thanks,

Aunsoft VRO to AVI Converter - Convert VRO Videos to AVI

Best Way to Deinterlace VRO Videos - Convert VRO to AVI

.VRO files are created by DVD video recorders or camcorders with Mini-DVD disc using the DVD-VR format. The disc has a 'VR_MOVIE.VRO' file, containing the raw audio and video data for all video recordings. The recording metadata along with navigation data are stored in the 'VR_MANGR.IFO' file. A backup copy of this file (VR_MANGR.BUP) is presented as well. VRO Codecs: MPEG2, same as VOB but uncompressed raw video and audio. So in some cases you can treat the VRO files just like .VOB files, but in many cases you can not use, play or edit VRO file easily.

Audio Video Interleave (AVI) is a means of digitally storing audio and video media content in a file for playback. AVI-formatted files employ the file extension .avi. The header portion of the AVI-formatted file provides details about the file contents, such as width, height, and frame rate, while the chunks of information store the actual audio and video data. IFO --> MPEG

You need a DVD ripper software, do a search for it on Google and you will find many softwares that will do it (for a price). I have not found any free software for that.

Dvd question

DVD-RWs can be initialised in either VIDEO mode or in VR mode. In your case you have initialised the disc in VR mode - hence the .VRO file extension.

VR mode allows you to edit the disc on the camcorder and is a newer format than VIDEO mode, which is the format used in most films, and which most DVD players 'understand'. VIDEO format cannot be edited on the camcorder, and can be edited on a PC. A VIDEO mode disc has to be finalised before you can use it on a PC.

Use VIDEO mode if you want to upload your video to a PC.

Codecs anyone?

I have the same camera, and found out that the VRO file is just MPEG2. So copy the VRO file onto your computer from your disc. Once its on your harddrive, you can right click on it and go to properties. Re-name your file from VRO to MPG, making sure that you still have the original VRO file in case you need it for other programs. Once I change it to MPG file name, I can use media player to play it and I have a DVD movie maker where i can edit and record to DVD.
