The language shown in the dispay window has changed to Spanish. How do I return it to the default language (English)?

The way was hidden somewhere in the HP solution center:

1. Press the cancel and power buttons at the same time, while the printer is on.

2. Press the blue, green and gray buttons (in this order)

3. Change the menu options with grey button until you get to the "Resets" menu.

4. Press OK. "Country and Language reset" displays.

5. Press and hold OK for approx 2 seconds, then release. The printer will turn off.

6. Start the printer again - it should ask you to select language.

My H-P PSC 1610 All-in-One InkJet printer did this a couple of years ago and I fixed it but can't remember how I did it. The display is displaying unintelligible characters. I've turned it off, waited,...

Hi,

Hopefully you have a setup button, press this and navigate to preferences, select this and select set language & country/region, hit OK, english should pop up, hit OK again, hit OK for yes, USA should pop up, hit OK, hit OK for yes & this should take you back to set language & country/region menu. From there just keep hitting left arrow back to the display screen and you should be done. This is how it is done for mine, hopefully there is something similar to this for yours. Hope this helps.

If this does not help, the only way to setup English language is to do reset on the printer. By doing the reset, the printer will loose any settings you have already set in the printer ( does not affect any PC/software settings )

Steps for Reset
Disconnect the power cord from back of the printer ( while the printer is powered on )
While holding the power button and cancel button front panel, connect the cord back.
The printer will go through alignment process. Complete the alignment.
*Note : Doing this reset, you will loose any fax logs or settings set on printer

The printer should work fine. If the issue does not resolve, it could be hardware issue.
