Question about Kenmore 80803 Microwave Oven

1 Answer

Problem with guide tray and glass tray

Whenever I use my microwave the whole tray moves off its usual track and hits the door and sometimes spills drinks from their cups. It did not do this when first purchased. Sound weird but it's driving us mad. Any idea what could cause this?

I have the same problems that has been noted here a few times; the glass tray is lifted off the glide and rotating arm and then slams back down on the floor of the microwave if it catches the rotating arm again. Has happened since day 1. I notice it doesn't happen so much if I have something heavy in the wave.
How can I fix this and/ order parts for this? Model # 721.80803400.
    Thank you so much.

I would suspect that the wheels are worn on the turntable support (if it's the wheeled type) or it may be a coupler problem. Could you post the entire correct model number so I can look it up?

Siemens HF26066GB plate is moving when door closed and not moving when open

Have a shop look at this---there usually is a recessed safety switch inside the jam that will prevent the unit from working with door open--sounds like the problem may be with it.

A cup of water spilled in my whirlpool microwave and was immediately plugged out, water wiped out and then when I plugged it back in the light came on but also a "cooking sound" I am afraid to...

Hopefully you did not short anything out.

Typically microwaves can handle minor spills.

Unplug the unit..tilt it backwards to drain any excess water..

Let it sit for a day or more to dry out completely..leaving the door open..

If nothing shorted..and I doubt it did..all should be backto normal. Plug it in and test it out.

Best of luck

Panasonic door handle (not push button) hard to open

I have had some success by taking WD-40 and lifting up on the hooks sticking out of the door and spray under the Bottom part of the hook into the door area. That lever guides through a metal slot that is part of the inner door. Sometimes that will help. I know you have to open the door but yanking it like that will eventually break off the metal huide part of the door and the inner door will have to be replaced.

Sunbeam Mic.Wav. no display... tray runs...

This is usually caused by either a bad door switch or a loose door switch mount, which are pretty simple problems to fix.

Door switch or mount trouble is usually caused by slamming the door or by opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

There are plastic mounts inside the microwave which hold the door switches and onto which the door latches lock when you close the door.

The screws on these mounts may be loose. If they get too loose, the switches will not be activated properly.

Sometimes it's a broken tab on the switch holder, allowing the switch to rotate just out of position. This tab can be hard to see, since it is under the bottom edge of the switch.

If the switch mount is broken, it's usually more economical and safer to add a dab or two of hot glue to the mount to secure the switch. Let it cool for about 30 minutes before using.

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, see:

Microwave fan is running whenever the door opens.

This is usually caused by either a bad door switch or a loose door switch mount, which are pretty simple problems to fix.

Even though a door switch clicks, it may still be bad inside.

Panasonic Microwave Model NN-S454 glass tray does not rotate

I would suspect that you have trouble with one of the door switches or its mount.

Door switch or mount trouble is usually caused by slamming the door or by opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

One test that sometimes helps is to gently lift up (and/or push down) on the door or handle as you try to start it. If it works or tries to work, then it's a door switch mount or door alignment issue.

Your model number prefix of 721 means it's made by LG / Goldstar.

F9 code on an LG means either a bad door switch or a loose door switch mount.

Even though a door switch clicks, it may still be bad inside.

This can be caused by slamming the door or by habitually opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

If you or a friend decide to look into it, we have critical information on safety, disassembly and door switches at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

Smasung MW7490w door/turntable problem

It's probably a defective door switch, probably the upper one, or the mount which holds the switch is broken. Opening the door while cooking (without first hitting the STOP button) is the primary cause of door switch failure. There are plastic mounts inside the microwave which hold the door switches and onto which the door hooks latch when you close the door. The screws on these mounts may be loose. If they get too loose, the switches will not be activated properly. Usually it's not a loose screw, but instead a broken tab on the switch holder, allowing the switch to rotate just out of position.

Turntable Problem

If it jumps or moves just a little when you open the door, that is normal. It it actually runs, then you have a problem. Quite often this is due to a bad door switch. Opening the door while cooking (without first hitting the STOP button) is the primary cause of door switch failure. You can visit my Web site at _ or e-mail at _ if you'd like more in information on diagnosing and repairing this problem.
