Oven Range Door Does Not Lock

I have a Whirlpool Accu Bake glass top range/oven. I have been trying to clean my oven. I push on the oven clean button and the door does not lock so that the cleaning can begin. What do I do? Thank you.

On this model you do not have to set a time. You push the button the door latch locks and the time begins.

  • Anonymous Nov 20, 2007

I pushed the clean button and it did nothing. Now any button pushed it displayes off.

  • Anonymous Nov 24, 2007

I stopped the cleaning before it could finish and the door is locked, how do I unlock it?

  • kcdave Apr 14, 2008

When I go to start the self clean cycle the door will not lock and after 60s I get a P1-F5 error. I'm suspecting the lock solenoid or the relay is not working. Are these componets located under the cook top what is the best way to access them?

Following you will find the insruction for self clean from the "Use and care manual" for your oven:
    "Press AUTO CLEAN.
The clean indicator light will light up.
This will automatically set a 31⁄2-hour
    Self-Cleaning cycle.
    NOTE: There will be a 30-minute cool-down
1⁄2 hour before the cycle is over.
    2. Set the cleaning time (optional).
If you want a Self-Cleaning cycle longer or
shorter than 31⁄2 hours, use the hour and minute
pads to set the cleaning time you want. Press
the ?up? (s) or ?down? (t) pad(s) until a time between
21⁄2-41⁄2 hours shows on the display.
?Use 21⁄2 hours for light soil.
?Use 31⁄2-41⁄2 hours for average to heavy soil.
    3. Start the oven.
The on and heat indicator lights will light up.
    NOTES:
? Make sure the door is closed all the way. If the
door is open even a little, it will not lock. If the
door is closed, it will lock after you press
    START/ENTER.
? Do not attempt to open the oven door while
    locking.
    4. After the Self-Cleaning cycle starts:
The door locked indicator light will light up when
    the oven door locks.
    5. After the Self-Cleaning cycle ends and the oven
    reaches normal baking/roasting temperatures:
The clean, door locked, and on indicator lights
will go out and the door unlocks.
Press OFF/CANCEL to clear the display.
    6. After the oven cools to room temperature, wipe
off any residue or ash with a damp cloth or
    sponge.
If needed, touch up spots with a mildly abrasive
    cleanser or cleaning sponge."
    Good luck.

The oven will not light on my Whirlpool gas oven Mod SF368LEPQ 2. The stove top burners still light.

Sounds like you need an bake element ignitor if the bake doesn't work but if the broil also doesn't work, it could be the electronic clock/timer control. the part number for the bake ignitor is 8054129 .Best off to call a reliable service company such as Sears.

Whirlpool accu bake oven door locked after self cleaning

The E1- F5 error is a door lock error.

The control (TIMER) has likely failed in this instance - BUT...

Sometimes when you disconnect power to a range and reconnect it the electronic range control gets confused.
You should disconnect power again for 15 seconds and reconnect and see if that helps.

If it doesn't cure the E1- F5 error hold the bake button in until E0- F2 appears in the display.
This is the error for a stuck button on the keypad and is the way to clear the memory of the electronic range control.

Sometimes these work, but if the control has failed it won't make any difference.

Hello Friends Creek.
Welcome to Fixya
You said, you used the self cleaning selection on my Admiral Designer Series gas range. The oven went through the complete cycle of 3 hours. You then unlocked the door and was able to open the oven door no problem. Later on you went to use the oven, pushed the bake button and the lock light would flash. And you could not get past that to get the oven to come on.

You did the right thing to turn off the electricity and then turned it back on.
Did you wait 5 minutes before turning the power back on?Or just flick it off and on?
You said, the lock light still blinked.
But did it lockup again?

Please send me the model and year of your range.
