Got the iRiver H340 MP3 player over 1 year ago as a gift. So it's outside warranty and have no proof of purchase anyways. Have had no problems with it at all but one night I plugged it in to charge. It charged to full but have not been able to turn it on since. Tried resetting, recharging etc but no good :(.
Just wondering is there any point in trying to get it fixed? I'm leaving the country in 2 weeks and need music with me! So I'll just go and buy another cheapy version if its going to be too expensive to fix.....or would you think maybe its just a battery problem?! and is it possible to get a new battery without sending it back to the manufacturers?....Many thanks for assistance!
I'm not sure if you are familiar with www.misticriver.net. click on fourms then scroll down to the H3xx series then H3xx Series Support. You can find the best support there.
It sounds like your battery may have died. Check this thread: http://www.misticriver.net/showthread.php?t=34257 The battery is replaceable. Apparently MANY people have problems with the battery after one year of use.

Sounds like the battery is dead. Rechargeables only last so long. I'd copy all the content off it, before the battery dies totally, which could make it not work even connected to your computer. Looks like you can get a replacement battery: Iriver h340 Google Search
And here's a video on replacing the battery: How to Replace the iRiver H340 Battery
H340 should show as a removable disk drive. Ensure it is formatted as Fat32, run chkdsk, or scandisk. Does the H340 boot into play mode? you did not say. I replaced my battery with no problems... so if it boots Ok it is a non-related fault.
Hi, I had the same problem with my H340. I bought a battery for $16 on eBay and swapped them out. The unit would say "Charging" but would never "Complete". When disconnected from the AC, it would not power up at all. I opened it up again and noticed that the old battery connections had the red wire on the left, the battery had the red wire on the right. I took the black and red wires out of the quick-connect jack and swapped them so that the red wire would no go into the player on the left. Works like a charm now.
with the hex file hold the navi button for a few seconds; you get four options select the general one then you will see an upgrade firmware option. select this the hex file on your player is your firmware it will then go through the upgrade process. don't touch while this is happening. it will turn off when done. then thats it. Be careful the version v1.30 will get rid of the video option go with v1.29 or less
