Question about Nolo Dealing with Problem Employees: A L (1260150SF)
Hi ! Recently bought this TV used from a friend. Analog interfaces work good. When I try to use the any one of the 2 Colorstream interfaces, the video is there, but it is like some colors are missing, and the pitcure is very dark. It is not a problem with a bad cable box or a bad DVD player, as the previous owner had the same problem. I am pretty knowledgeable with electronics and know how to solder electronics. Can anybody help at least narrow down what may be faulty ?
DANGER I take it you understand that these can kill. Even WEEKS after they have been unplugged. The chassis can be HOT on them too, what is normally considered to be EARTH can be live with thousands of volts. Bleed the capacitor down first, using the right resistors, use rubber gloves, boots and stand on a rubber mat. Keep one hand in your pocket to avoid current going through your heart if you mess up. This is just how I do it since a near miss. Check out precautions yourself, from a reputable source if you still wish to try. Now that I have said that, it may be connections on the inside of the Colourstream interface. Sounds like you have dropped a colour and have another problem that could well be related. ie: two wires touching or shorting.

i have a red colar tube that developed a problem over night the pic. is warped beyound adjustment. the bottem third looks like a rolling wave of ghosting . I have removed the power, bled the capaciter off, leveled the lens and tube pack and removed the outer lenses. under the red convex bottom lens,(the one sealed in fluid), there is what looks like a film which i can see lookes like it is warped which explains the wave. My question is can this film, which appears to be flexible be replaced, and if so what is the fluid that i am guessing works like a coolant. and wher to get replacement fluid. Or do I have to just replace the whole tube. any help on this subject would be helpfull. thanx...
