Just bought a new game and went to play it, but the Xbox suddenly wouldn't open. When you push the eject button, it blinks then tries to open normally but the thing is just stuck I guess.
HI EzyA
THE PROBLEM YOU GOT IS VERY COMMON ON THE XBOX SYSTEM ILL BET U THAT WHEN YOU OPEN THE TRAY WHEN YOU GET IT OPEN YOUR LASER IS A TOSHIBEA SAMSUNG THE TRAY WILL HAVE 2 LARGE HOLES IN THE TRAY LIKE FINGER HOLES WOT YOU NEED TO DO IS OPEN THE LASER TAKE OUT THE ELASTIC BAND GOING ROUND THE COGGS AND WHEELS UNTANGLE IT AND PUT IT BACK IN .......NOW IT WILL OPEN AND CLOSE SORRY FOR RESPONDING SO LATE ONLY JUST LISTED ON THIS GOOD SITE HOPE THIS HELPS YOU
My Xbox did that too. I tried almost everything. Take it to the nearest mechanic and see if they know the problem. If it costs more than you hoped, try asking another mechanic and if there prices don't compare, ask them what the problem is and if they give the same answer, take the cheapest one or if they're answers are diffrent, one of them are ripping you off. That's what I did and they fixed the problem. Sorry if that was irrelevent suggestion.
Hope it works

Try this: first take any disks out of the xbox, turn off your xbox for about 30mins, unplug it all from the mains, take the harddrive out and back in ensuring it is in properly secure and clicks. Then after 30mins turn back on holding the eject switch and the small switch neer the centre by the memory slot 2, hold the small button down first then the eject button so you are holding them together, release the small button and press the button again, Then open the tray reinsert the game and you now should have the game up and running again. hop this helps and post back the results.thanks.
Well you may be having disk tray issues, sure hope so as compared to a burnt out lens module, try ejecting the tray fully and wiping all dust off around the grooves under the tray, one more tip is to keep a disk in the drive at all times, even when you aint playing it, you can also try giving it a gentle tap on the front pat where the disk tray is located any time you eject it or push the tray back in, come to think about it if you are fond of pushing the tray in after inserting a disc, stop cos it weakens the motor that drives the ejecting process, hope this helps...
When you pulled the controller, and the Xbox made the "weird noise" it was probably caused by the game sliding out of the tray. This can happen when a disk is spinning in the console and the console suddenly jerks in any direction.
Sounds like your disc drive is malfunctioning. Honestly the only thing i could possibly think of is that the button for the disc drive could've gotten stuck and opens the 360 by any sudden movements.
A lot of people have this problem. Before you post, look around.
Anyway, I was able to call xbox 360 customer support. We did the troubleshooting but it still would not work, so they took my xbox 360 in for repairs. I would not try to fix it on your own because it might negate the warranty.
