If you're running Windows XP then you don't need it. Connect via USB cable, switch on the camera (to view) and press the OK button when the menu appears. The camera will then be seen in windows explorer as a drive and the files can be copied direct to your hard drive. You can then use a better software package to store, view, manipulate and print them.

Doubt the software will work on Vista. If you do have the disk, before you click on the install program, right click it and use the "XP compatability" mode. I would dual boot to an XP partition to take care of all your XP needs. Its a bummer but that is what Im doing...

If you can get to the ribbon cable that the zoom lever is attached to, you can use a multimeter or a continuity tester to see if the lever is actually shorting any traces on the ribbon. the zoom lever acts upon a motor that rotates the iner lens barrel, possible the motor lead is open or the switch under the lever is dirty/faulty.
