Camera froze whilst taking pictures, lens stuck.

My 3 year old takes pictures but tends to press other buttons at the same time. Whilst taking some pictures the camera stopped working, all the lights are off and it is locked. Cannot seem to power up/power down. I've replaced batteries etc but it appears dead. Wonder if a button could be jammed down or whether anyone has experienced a similar problem.

My daughter was taking pictures and then it just froze with the lens out. when the power comes on it just say E18, is there anything that can be done?

It happend to me also. I think it is caused by the lens mechanism. It is stuck and it disabled all other functions.

I had the same thing with my camera. I think it is due to the lens mechanism. It is stuck in one position and thus disabled all other functions on the camera. Try to get the lens un-stuck...

Firstly switch off the camera
press and hold the ok button and turn the camera on and off for few times
whilst keeping this button depressed. if it dint work let me know

Ok not sure if you mean whilst taking the picture or after, if this is whilst you need to select the picture mode i.e Auto, Sport, Night, etc, the camera will display the config on the screen for a few seconds, in this time hit the OK button this will set the picture to Liveview, you will be able to see them on the screen,
Now to see the pictures you have taken you need to push the review button and scroll through the images,

Nikon lens 18--55mm stuck

Dropping is the most common cause or a knock whilst whilst the lens is out.
Dirt ingress is another possibilty.
It is almost always physical damage - or a low battery.
There is- as always this out of warranty items of this class no repair opportunity
