It's possibly only needs soldering of the voltage regulators. they are on the main circuit board heat sink (middle of the receiver and can be accessed by the bottom panel.
I have a DVD player, a VCR player, a TV set all hook into an RCA RT2250 Audio/Video receiver. Everything was working fine until 2 days ago. Now the DVD player gives me a great pix but no sound. The VCR,and TV are just fine and I have checked everything out, speaker connections, mute buttons, etc. and nothing seems to be wrong. I am thinking that some thing in the receiver got fried. Is it repairable?
1.bad rca jacks
2.could be connected to wrong audio lead rca jack
3.the settings in dvd player donot match the receivers example- dts or ntfs
4.make sure its regioned to your player some audio isnt on the disks
5.pc's usually have new cd formats that came out
cd's and dvd's for some reason in this age isnt being able to play fully in older equipment do to the change in cd/dvd formats which makes you go out and buy new equipment it happened to me not just 2 weeks ago bought a new dvd and found out it wouldnt play in my year old dvd deck had to go out and buy new dvd deck then disk and all my others played fine
what is the model of your tv and the method in which you are trying to connect the dvd (ie rca cable, component, composite, hdmi) and do you hear audio
Try to find out by looking at the menu of the dvd. play the DVD without a CD Rom in it then press stop and menu at the same time. It will let you select a region for it to play. But sometimes you can only do that with a different DVD players. so0me DVD players are only made to play on what you already have it on.
My unit just stopped working a few weeks ago and I am chucking it so, the unit is available for canabilizing.
I am pretty sure the DVD drive is fine since I was not using that when
it died. I was listening to a football game with the TV on and using
the audio through the system I think the power supply board died as
nothing would work when I pushed a function button.
The remote works fine too so that is available as well as the manual.
I am currently using the existing speakers with a replacement unit,
which is under warranty and I am burning in right now at near max volume.
I will be willing to send DVD player as it can be easily be removed from the unit if you want to pay shipping costs.
I bought a Zenith unit on black Friday from Circuit City for $79 with
free shipping so I figured it would be as cost effective as trying to
repair the RCA unit, plus I have a backup set of speakers.
Now I am looking for another low wattage 5.1 system to use in my retirement home in FL, since I have a spare set of speakers.
