Try to format - The below was copyed from an earlier post of mine. Over a period of time your info can get corrupt from transering music back and forth. To format plug it in to usb. Go to my computer It shows up as a removably disc, usually drive f: Right click on drive f: (or the approriate drive) and click format. Let me know what happens, you will have reload the player, also try bypassing the software you are using to tranfer, by opening up drive f: and clicking and dragging your music into it , or you can copy and paste it into drive f: L8R

If you own the data cable for the device you may not need the software. All mp3 players may act as file sharing devices. The software included with these devices is usually more for convenience and not really needed. Plug your data cable in to your computer and wait for it to recognize your device. Open My Computer and near the C:\ drive you'll see a new disk appear. Most likely it will be named E:\ or F:\ . Double click to open it. This will tell you if there is any files left on the device. I'm not familiar with that brand, make or model but this is pretty much industry standard. If for some reason the device moved your mp3 files outside of the typical music folder simply drag them back in. :) Then it will be able to read the files correctly again. :)
Good luck!

I have one of these too and finally figured it out! If you push the menu button on the side, you get a menu that you can scroll through with the left/right arrows on the face. The music icon should be first in the list, but if not, scroll until you get it highlighted. Once highlighted, push menu again to select it. My trouble was in not realizing that the menu button is also the select button!

need to reformat your music files to the proper format you need, emersons are very picky, they only take a few formats, i believe avi is one of them, the software disk your emerson came with reformats your music and video files to the proper format... read your instruction booklet before using the product...
