I run my TV through my VCR through my receiver for surround sound. It has worked fine for years, but now when I use the TV I get the center, subwoofer and rear speakers okay, but the front speakers do not work. The do not work in direct mode either when I have the VCR selected in the function mode. Weird thing is that when I select the radio mode the surround sound works fine and the fron speakers work! The fornt speakers also work, when in the radio mode, in the direct mode too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Does anyone have any ideas? I took out all of the speaker connections, checked everything, hooked everythin back up, tried different modes, e.g. Theater 1 and 2, Pro Logic, etc., but I can't seem to get the front speakers to work in VCR mode? I NEED MY SURROUND SOUND.....................................
SOURCE: I have 5 speakers and
You'll find that the receiver is working OK for tv and dvd as it is receiving "multi channel iformation" from the dvd unit/disc and the tv broadcast. CDs are only stereo and so the unit will default to "stereo" playback. As the front two speakers are classed as "the mains speakers" this is all that will be used.
If you put the receiver into "all channel stereo" or something along those lines, you should find that your cds will come through all your speakers.
Best of luck
