Well introduce them(just kidding)

check that the plug is seated on the adapter going into the laptop

otherwise, there may be an issue with plug, adaptor or the place it inserts

might need a new adapter not that expensive really

Probably the AC Adapter is no good....Go to e-bay and purchase a new AC Adapter for that model # notebook. But if it shows charging then try first by taking out the battery and see if the AC adapter will run the computer without the battery in it (if so, then the adapter is good, the battery is actually bad, so replace the battery instead).

Good Luck.

Dell Studio 1440. New battery&adapter won't charge

You either have one of the following:
1. Bad Battery
2. Wrong adapter - yours no comprende w/ unit.
3. Cracked Jack - means you've got to get a tech to take the unit apart and replace it. $150-200
4. Goto your device manager, double click bat., then right mouse click on acpi driver and update it. Hopefully that works.
or
5. Dell needs to shoot out a bios flash fix.

My Dell Latitude D620 Screen is Black and the keyboard dosent work when I turn on the computer. The only LED light that shows is the power light, the wifi or the little cylinder light dosent work. I can...

remove all attached devices like printers or flash drives. remove battery and power on using ac adapter only. if it still wont work, try another good ac adapter. make sure ac adapter light is on. if it still shows the power light on and nothing else, replace motherboard.

Hi. I bought a generic dell charger replacement for my laptop and it doesn't charge the battery, I was wondering if there was some way to make the computer properly recognize it.

Unfortunatly there is no way to make a 3rd party AC adapter function with certain dell models. The packaging ont he adapter you purchased may say that it is compatable with your computer but dell units are very specific when it comes to which AC adapters will work properly with them. The best thing you can do is return the 3rd party adapter and purchase the correct one from dell directly. The reason that dall laptops don't all work with 3rd part ACAs is becuase of a signaling line build into the laptop's motherboard. This line enables communication from the SuperIO controller on the board with a corresponding EPROM built into the AC adapter. If the SuperIO controller receives a signal from the wrong EPROM (AKA wrong AC adapter) then it will not recognize the power source and may or may not work properly or at all.

Please go to this website:
http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/my_systems_info/details?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&~tab=2&~ck=mn
And enter the service tag located on the bottom of your dell laptop. This will allow you to navigate to a page with your exact system confoguration information. Here you will be able to see the correct dell part number for the orginial AC adapter for your unit. You can then order this adapter from dell. Even though dell adapters are more expensive than generic ones, they are guaranteed to work.

Will not recognize AC POWER, Running from Battery only- now battery is dead.

The adapter might be faulty
Check the adapter with multi-meter, the voltage reading should be slightly higher than the voltage output that is printed on the label on the adapter.

IBM T30 - power issues

You might try cleaning the battery compartment. Makeing sure there are no damaged pins. Often times even a single messed up pin will cause this. Also this is a very good indication of adaptor failure. If you haven't allready I suggest getting another ac adapter specific to you machine. Even a substitute will casue the same issue you are now experianceing.

My tablet is not pluging in

Toshiba computers have a label on the bottom that displays the exact voltage and minimum amperage required to power the computer ("DC15V 3.0A", for example, which means 15 volts DC (direct current), at 3.0 amps. Each Toshiba AC adapter has a label indicating its output voltage and amperage capacity (for example, "DC15V 3.0A"). Important considerations for using AC adapters with portable computers:
The connectors must be compatible -- they must mate together correctly.
The voltage level must match exactly (a computer designed to run from 15 volts can be powered only by an adapter rated to produce 15 volts). If the AC adapter's voltage is higher than the computer's requirement, the computer and the battery may be damaged, If the AC adapter's voltage is lower, the computer may not operate correctly, or not operate at all.
The AC adapter must supply at least enough amperage (current) to meet the computer's amperage requirement. Otherwise, the computer may not run properly, the battery may not charge correctly, or may charge very slowly.
The quality of the power (ripple, noise and other factors) provided by the AC adapter must be very high. AC adapters from other manufacturers may supply sufficient amperage at the correct voltage level but the quality of the power may be poor, which can cause the computer to operate erratically, and could even cause damage to the computer. Whenever possible, use the correct Toshiba AC adapter for your computer.
The computer's power light may blink to indicate that there's a problem with the power from the AC adapter.
