Kodak EasyShare DX4330 - shutter does not open

Hello, I have got a digital camera "Kodak EasyShare DX4330" from a friend of mine. The camera does not work any more. Don't know what happened exactly to the camera, but the body and lens are looking like new. Problem description: When I put in new batteries and switch on the camera the lens retracts and the LCD asks me to set date and time (internal battery seems to be low, but that's the smallest problem). After I did so I tried to take some photos but they all are black. During focusing there is also no display. As far as I see the shutter inside the lens does not open, neither when I take a photo nor in video mode. Has anybody some hint how I can fix the problem on my own? I wonder whether this is an mechanical or electrical problem. I knocked on the camera body some times but this does not help. I already disassembled the camera but was afraid to disassemble the lens. Thank you very much and all the best for 2007 UN_DX4330

Exactly the same problem I have with my dx4330.  It worked fine last week but this week when I need it, it just seems to take black photos and you cannot see anything on the screen at the back.  Can anyone help asap please

The problem seems to be the lens assembly, the electromagnet for the shutter does not work because the tiny film-wires are broken from wear and tear when you are zooming in and out
i corrected the wires myself but i am having trouble assembling back the lens, hope that helps all of you! it's a flaw in their design! (or not! :))

Hi we have a kodak easyshare dx4330 and the screen is now black and when you take a photo it is not there, also the vidio side of it is the same no picture only sound can this be fixed at all thanks

Not worth repairing as either CCD has failed or shutter is stuck. Try resetting it in the menu.
Does it store the black photo on the card? Can you look into the lens as you press the shutter and see if the shutter is operating?
I hope I have been of help but please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.
I appreciate your vote if you appreciate my reply.

Uninstall the software, fix compatibility issues, run as administrator.
Right click on the executable, properties, compatibility, check for example windows xp sp2,apply, ok.
Also or first try to download an updated drivers for Kodak device. I hope have been usefull.

Flash on EasyShare DX4330 stopped after 7 years

Most likely the capacitor or xenon flash bulb is bad. If you're a techhie of sorts, you might be able to fix it yourself, just make sure you discharge the capacitor when you open the camera up (in case it's still good, and charged). With the low prices on digital cameras today, it would probably be better to buy a new one than have it repaired, and keep this camera as a backup.

Kodak easyshare dx4330 just has black pictures.

If the pictures are black on the camera, and when you view them on the PC, the problem is with the imager of the camera. Unfortunately, it is time for a repair...

Kodak DX4330 shuts down

Unscrew some of the screws (the ones you can manage to remove), press on the little connector on the bottom, put some batteries in and try it. When I put the batteries in, it worked for me, and so I screwed it back up, and it's continued working pretty much. I think something might have gotten loose on these cameras. I thought mine was through, but it seems to work now!
