If there is a problem with the flash itself or the mainboard connection to the flash it will not charge. If the flash won't charge then it won't go off when you take a picture. The only way to fix the problem is to replace the flash with a good used one and see if that fixes it. If not, then you need to replace the mainboard. Good used parts can usually be found online for cheap; that auction website doesn't pay me to type their name, so I don't, sorry. Hope this helps!

Have you checked the flash settings, quite often the flash accidently gets turned off, on most cameras the buttton looks like a lightning bolt. Toggle through the settings if it is not on a button on the camera.
Yes it can be repaired. I it is quite easy of a repair. I have done it before. What I have done is swapped the flash board with one from another camera with a different ailment. I can give you instructions on how to do it.
I had the same problem with my flash not working on any setting, but I found a way to fix it: hit the menu button, make sure the "rec mode" choice is set to normal instead of burst. I think the burst mode takes multiple shots in a row, so the flash isn't compatible with that setting?
The flash on my Moultrie gameSpy 4.0 (D40) quit working. I can trigger the camera and see the flash is very week. Batteries are 100%. Can the flash be ordered and replaced?
My flash went out twice on my FD-95. The first time it was fixed under warranty and it was the bulb. This time I haven't fixed since I have my 707 now. It still works with the external flash like yours did before you dropped it.
If possible I would try and buy another external flash since your time is short. When I had my camera fixed under warranty it was just about to run out and they, the camera shop, told me I should get it fixed now instead of out of warranty because the cost could be hundreds just in labor alone.
Good luck.
