Problem with DVD player reading discs

DVD-DX65 (SP) This is a Spanish DVD player. It will play purchased DVD's but if I put in a home recorded DVD-RW it ejects it. Do I need a different disc eg. DVD-R for example, or is it that this player just wont play a home recorded disc.

SOURCE: DVD player recorder won't read or play any disc

This just worked for me. Don't know how long it will last though. I found it on this webpage
http://forum.ecoustics.com/bbs/messages/15118/130292.html

To do a reset:
On the remote control press the SETUP button,
Press the right key on the remote 3 times,
The Preference page will show up,
Press the down arrow five time to highlight
"default", hit right arrow to highlight "reset"
Press enter to reset. Turn off/on machine, etc.

DVD/CD drive won't recognize discs. System says corect driver installed

Is it a disc that someone made on their computer and gave to you or is it one you purchased from the store? Computers sometimes have a hard time reading a disc that someone made and gave to you. Try a disc that you purchased and see if it plays it.

See if you can update the driver in the device manager.

Uninstall the DvD Drive from the device manager, then reboot and let it reconfigure everything. Go the Control Panel and under System find the device manager. Right Click on the dvd drive and select uninstall. Reboot.

Reseat the the disc by unplugging the power cord, remove the battery, then turn the laptop over and remove the screw that holds the dvd drive in place. Pull the drive out, then put it back it.

If you are using Windows Media Player try the VLC player.
Try using VLC as your player. Go to www.google.com andin the search box type "download vlc" (without the quotes). Look for the Video Lan download from site www.videolan.org/vlc Downloadand install it. It downloads and installs in 3 minutes or so. It'sa very fast player, smooth and it can play just about any type of dvd formatsand media. It's totally FREE.

did you mean your DVD disc can not play in some dvd players,if so then my answer to your querry would be that some dvd players have more powerful lens to read bulky data in a disc that some machines can not read. also note that some machines are very sensitive such that they do not play discs with viruses, with scratches or any other defects. this is to safeguard the lens from being damaged due to the same though some machines will play barely all discs no matter the scratches.

My dvd player would't play any dvd's. It used to play any regions, but now i often/always get the message "cannot play" Sometimes the movie start up normal, but often the picture freeze...

The dvd player has reached the end of it's service life, over a period of time the laser pickup becomes weaker until it can no longer read the disc. One option is to purchase a disc cleaning kit and follow the instructions to possibly give new life to the unit, if that fails it is far cheaper to replace the item than have it repaired.

A disk in a series of exercise discs plays only in Spanish. My young daughter had the remote and, in a few quick buttons, made the language and writing change to Spanish only and I cannot, no matter what I...

The problem is not the disc itself but your DVD player. If other discs still play in English, and it is just this one disc that plays in Spanish, then your player is using some sort of stored setting to recognize your preference for spanish on that particular disc.
Forgive me if you've already done this, but try turning unplugging the DVD player for a period of ten seconds or so, and then plug it back in. If there is a reset button, press it. See if the disc still plays in Spanish after that.
If so, you may need to navigate the DVD menu of the offending CD to turn off the language setting your daughter selected. If you don't speak Spanish, try navigating to the language settings on one of the other discs with the English menus. Memorize how you got there, and take the same path through the Spanish language menu. Return the language setting to English, and exit.
Hope this helps.

Samsung dvd player does not read dvd disc.it reads "no disc".

I also have a Samsung Dvd player. If it is a dvd you burned yourself it may not recognize the disc. If you have loaded a purchased or rented disc and it still won't load, I would say the head is dirty or the unit is defective. I would try a head cleaner first.available at most electronics stores If that doesn't work you probably will need to send it in for repair.
good luck

Doesn't read disc

Glenn's answer is incomplete. I have the same machine. I am currently experiencing a similar problem. The machine reads cd's, vcd's, but it will not read dvd's. Commercially purchased dvd's. The problem is not a format problem, not a zone problem. The dvd's work in other machines, so it is not a dvd problem. If anyone has any ideas, please respond. Thank you.

Cant play All DVD - Band of Brother Has 2 Part on A Single DVD Part 1 Part 2

There is a button labeled FLIP on your remote control. It is on the far right column, and it is the fifth button from the top. It is also the first black button on the remote.

There is also a FLIP button on the front of the unit in the top right corner. It is white. When you push it, it lights up orange.

If the unit attempts to read on side of the disc and fails, it will rotate the carousel 180 degrees and automatically attempt the read the other side of the disk.
