Question about Asko D1796FI Built-in Dishwasher

1 Answer

Asko D1796 will not start properly

My Asko D1796 all of a sudden after 3 years of flawless operation will not start. I turn the power on, select the cycle and start it. It makes the draining noise for a few seconds and instead of filling up with water, the heating element comes on. I've tried turning it on and off. Cutting the power at the circuit breaker and it doesn't change. Even if I select the rinse and hold cycle with no heat involved it does the exact same thing and the heating element comes on. Please help. I just had a party and my dishwasher is full and my 3 year warranty just expired. What happened?

It sounds as if you may have A bad control board. It could be causing the heater element to come on when its not supposed to (usually a stuck relay) and not filling the machine with water. you could also have a bad control board AND a bad fill valve, as a stuck relay for the heater shouldn't affect the fill valve circuit. The bad news is that these asko control boards are $350 to $450 for just the part, the good news is that the control board is under a 5 year warranty (for only the part, not the labor to change it) as are the pump motors and any timers. Also, if you are just out of warranty, find your date of installation, as asko warranties start when you install it, not when you buy it (if you moved into the house and it was there when you moved in, and you are the first owner, submit a date of occupancy and that's when your warranty started)

Sony HCD-GT222 Hi-Fi CD and cassette deck with tuner, suddenly started to shut itself down at volumes higher than 50%, after three years of flawless operation.

It's thermal; protection is happening probably due to bad ventilation. Fuzz and dust can block air vents. These need to be vacuumed out now and then.

Hi,
You may have a bearing problem...
but It sounds like you have a motor problem... the power is going to the motor but the motor for the pump is not turning...

I would check for power to the motor and see if it is getting power... if not then trace back why it is not getting power...

Water pump gone on our d1796 and asking $450 to fix also rinse aid broken as well. Washer is 7 years old. Is it worth fixing. Thanks, Greg.

$450 Wow.... 7 years old, in my humble opinion.. NO WAY. It is better to put your money into a new one rather than have "Fixed" one that may break down again, once things start going... well.. you know the story I am sure.

My asko D1796 dishwasher has turned itself to 'flood mode', how can I fix this?

Try tipping it over to get the water out of the base that is activating the flood switch, removing the kick panel and drying with towel and hair dryer. If there is no majour leak you should be back in action.

Hope this might help

ASKO D3251 flashing error message; drain gurgling, power off

You most likely have a leaking bottom spray arm. The water is in the pan under your unit. It requires dealer service. If you are still in your 3-year warranty, good; otherwise be prepared to put out hundreds of dollars. I'm going though this now for a second time on my $1600 D3251. Asko did grant a one-time extension on my warranty since it expired a month ago. In 6 months when it breaks again, I'll buy a Bosch. I also had this same problem on a previous Asko. I can't get more than 3 years out of these units, so this is my last Asko. When it breaks again, I'll go with Bosch. Good Luck.

Asko D1796F1 builtin...lights are on but no one is home

Our Asko D1796 dishwasher has the lights on the panel working as usual but you can't select a cycle and it won't turn on. We unplugged the pipe. If we turn it off and wait for 12+ hours we have gotten it to work twice.
