Question about GE Profile JK915 Electric Single Oven

Convection fan not working

Hi, I have a GE Profile Spectra oven which is 3 yrs. old. I have never cooked in the convection mode and decided to try it for the first time this week. My convection fan inside the oven does not turn and the icon on the control pad shows that the fan is turning. Do I need to call a repairman or is is something simple that I can do? I pressed "convection roast", put in the desired temperature and pressed 'Start". The icons show that the fan is turning but the fan inside does not move. Thank you,Lorrie

Check for a bad fan motor or a jammed blade.

The oven has been heating irregularly, and the food has cooked unevenly.

The fan is likely for convection cooking. And it sounds like you might be used to cooking on convection mode. Try changing it.

Did you try going to the GE website? If not, try it:

http://www.geappliances.com/

When you pull up the website, you can click on the blue down arrow located in the box at the top of the web page, next to the work SEARCH and click on "USE & CARE MANUALS. Put your model number into the next box to the right and hit GO.

If you are having trouble after entering what you believe is the proper model/serial number, you can look at the FAQ (frequently asked questions) section to determine whether you have actually entered the proper number.

This is an electric convection oven

I am by no means an expert, but I believe the only thing differenty in a convection oven vs a regular oven is that there is a fan to conduct the heat quicker and more evenly. It has to do with heat tranfer rate. I can't imagine why aluminum foil would cause any problem.
