HP D4260 Stops printing

I have a HP D4260 Printer that stops printing after a few pages, sometimes after 1 sometimes 15 or more before it stops. Vista reports that the printer has stopped communicating with the system. I have all the latest drivers installed and have downloaded the HP diagnostic program which reports that there is an issue with the spool when the problem occurs. I have tried setting the spooler to the spool jobs first option, tried the start printing immediately option, and also the print directly to printer option with no luck. Problem occurs while using any of my software packages when printing more than one page.

I've had the same problem with a D4160 for some time now. Why hasn't anyone responded to you yet? Does this site really work?

SOURCE: Cannot print on shared printer

I had the same problem with HP 1018 printer, when I had two computers connected to a domain and had Windows XP SP3 on them and when I shared the printer on one of them - I could only print from the network if the user belonged to the Local Administrators group on the host/server computer. Once the network user is removed from Administrators - the print jobs are stuck in print queue. I used the "HP LaserJet Host Based Print Driver Package" that is on HP web site for HP laserjet 1018 printer.
Then I tried to use a different driver for that printer and was successful with driver for HP LaserJet 1020. After forcing that printer to use the 1020 drivers, the regular users were able to print to that printer.

Is your printer hooked up to your network?

Make sure all your settings are correct and try connecting the printer directly into your computer. Then print if it does not work still then comment back and I will be glad to help.

Hope this helped.

When i ask to print all (pages), only the last page gets printed. I have to select and print each page separately to print out whole documents. I'm printing from an Hp using windows Vista 6.0. This...

some printers collate pages, which means they print from the last page to the first page. so that when you pick up the pages from the finished printing tray they are in order.

if you say it stops after the first page, there are a few possible reasons for this.
either you closed the application you were printing from before you finished printing (which sometimes cancels the printing job)
or the computer decided it wanted to cancel the printing on its own, this can happen if the printer has sometimes an error, this error or cause could be a lag between the data transfer to the printer.

try printing without collating the pages, while keeping the application/document open.

and make sure you have the latest drivers.
