Brand new xta880 wont stay on - the protection circuit light comes on as soon as the amp does, then goes off and doesn't come back on until I reset the remote/head unit. Same results each time. I tried unplugging my ground wire to see the effect and when I did the amp stayed in protection mode without turning off. I performed an exact switch from a alpine amp and after soundstream wouldn't work switched em right back and it works fine. The Alpine is only a 200 watt mono tho. Any ideas here? Weak ground? Not enough power to the amp? Is this amp a heavy power consumer? thanks, in advance, and happy new year!
No, this amp is not a heavy power consumer- matter of fact it takes very little power to run.Maybe you should check the fuses on the amp to see if they are what is recommended. Also check your fuse kit to your amp- your fuse might not be big enough. If neither works take it back where u got it.

Sounds to me like the amp is going into protection mode. Try placing one sub on the amp with very little gain. One of the biggest reason why this happens is because the subwoofers are wired wrong. What is the brand and model number for your amp?
The amp is not geting enough current. You need to use some larger gauge cable and it would probably be best to add a small power capacitor. If your not familiar with a cap then stop by your local car audio store or google it and you will get a lot of imfo.
Outputs are fried. Try disconnecting your speakers and see if it still goes into protection mode. If it does then you

Normally this denotes a protect condition. Remove the speaker wires from the back of the amp and see if the green light stays on. If this fixes the problem, then there is a short circuit in your wires, speaker level volume control or speakers. The amp sees the short and goes into protect. After a couple seconds it closes the connection again and if the short is still present it goes back into protect.
hi, try connecting the power b+ and gnd and remote turn on cables only (dont connect rca input or any spks), if amp doesnt turn on you will have to take in for repair. no need to buy new amp, coz problem could be a burnt pcb track or even a faulty remote or FET circuit.if amp turns on then connect other cables slowly and monitor the power lite as you do connections. you may have a faulty spk load that will cause amp to stay off or in protection mode. cheers
