Question about NEC PlasmaSync 42MP3 42 in. Television

Open Question

NEC PlasmaSync 42MP3

Recently my Plasma has been displaying a range of flickering red and orange pixels across the whole screen when I turn it on. After a while they disappear 1-2 mins. Turn it off and on again no problems. If I turn off and leave off for about 10 minutes plus it happens again! Even with no other signal source attached to the plasma I get these symptoms! Had the unit for 4 years - was thinking of getting a technician out - thought I'd try a post first - :-) Any help appreciated!

During warmup (for teh first few minutes), the top 4-8 inches of my screen has these green and yellow vertical lines mapping with the image in that area.

After a few minutes, the image is fine.

SOURCE: NEC Plasma Sync 42MP3 Problem

Hi, This model has some design flaws and yes NEC admitted to them a year ago. The problem with your monitor (hopefully) is a bad power supply. Have a Tech with a voltage tool check the boards as well as the connections Reason, this monitor generates a lot of heat ( no cooling fans) primarily at the power supply and sits there. So the wires tend to go weak by the heat build up. What the problem is the power is not going to the correct board in the right voltage. hope this helps out!!!

Its NOT a TV, its a display. It does not have its own TV tuner or RF converter. You have to runit from a VCR, A DIgibox or SKY TV.

It does not have TV tuner, it is just a display for Video source, you will need Tuner box.

Samsung plasma tv ps42c7hdx flickering lines

Yes, yes, yes. Change all bulgy, puffy capacitors by exactly the same value and voltage. Look for any excessive voltages in these areas where you find such capacitors. But replace capacitors only one by one. Never remove all of them together, as you are likely to misplace the capacitors, creating more problems. Also look for any loose contacts and dry solders.

Pixels exposing themselves across my screen. PDP-502MX

If these pixels are always in the same place, then I would suspect the plasma display panel. Pioneer is best known for their "Elite" series HDTV which have great picture quality, but for my money the rest can go to the dumpster. If the pixels change to different areas of the screen, then you probably have induced electrical noise in either the wiring or the circuits. Could be faulty engineering or workmanship. In that case, it could be worth getting it looked at. You may need to display a "static" picture, either from freezing a DVD scene, or getting a calibration DVD to see if these pixels are always visible. If the pixels only become visible after being on awhile, it could be the heat build-up causing a solder connection or semiconductor to act up (this model does use 470 watts of electricity when on, and you know that puts out a lot of heat to help breakdown components). Sorry I can't give you a magic cure, I absolutely refuse to work on pioneer TV's so I'm "out of the loop".
