Same exact problem. I have no idea how we made it do that either. We removed a disk from it and now it says Safe and won't let us do anything else. I'm guessing it's some kind of anti-theft device maybe??? Please help us fix this!

The safe mode on Sanyo VCRs locks out the buttons on the machine. Try using the remote. To turn off the safe mode, look for a button on the remote labeled "Safe."

I dont know how to turn it on.... it has no power button

There is really no power button only OPTION/PWR OFF button of your player.
If you press and hold the OPTION/PWR OFF button, the screen turns off and the player enters standby mode.
If you press any button while the player is in standby mode, the "Now Playing" screen, etc., appears
and the player is ready for operation. Furthermore, if you leave the player in standby mode for about 4 hours, the player turns completely off automatically.
If you press any button when the player is turned off, the start up screen appears first, then the "Now Playing" screen appears.

Thanks.

SAfe mode is stuck on. Was using DVD player

1. Check the batteries in the remote to see if they have a charge.
2. If you have a DVD button on the unit itself press this and see if you get a response.
3. Unplug the unit and wait 30 second plug it back into the AC and try your DVD player , this usually resets the digital switch in the controller to default.
4. You may need to have the unit serviced.
5. Go to the manufacturer's site and check the "troubleshooting" information for this problem there may be a solution that I may not have covered here or there may be a procedure they have to reset the unit.
I hope this helps! Have a great New Year!

XP not able to download songs onto MP3

When using XP and media player 10, your mp3 player has to be in MTP mode to transfer music, you can't do it in USB mode. If you have already tried in USB mode you'll be beter off clearing the memory and starting over (you'll have to reload your music after you are done).

  1. Plug the player up to the computer using the USB cable.
  2. Close out any pop ups that open. If they won't close ignore them until you are finished.
  3. Double click the My Computer icon on your desktop.
  4. When that opens find your player under Removable Devices or Audio Devices. Some computers will show your player twice but will have the SD MMC card showing behind the player name. That is only for formatting the SD card.
  5. Right click once on the player to open the Options menu and then click on Format
  6. Click OK to any warnings that come up. There may be one or two depending on your operating system.
  7. Any memory will now be erased from your player and you can disconnect from the computer.
  8. Reboot your computer and plug your player back in.
  9. When you see USB appear on your players screen, press and hold the M button until MTP appears on your screen.
  10. Reload your music

Monitor

When your computer is starting up, hit F8 and you'll see the safe mode, safe mode with networking, etc. screen...You should see a choice that says "enable vga mode". Select that and windows will start and the os will select a screen resolution for you. After that, everything will work fine...I hope.

No response, no turn-on, dead player! help!

Same thing just happened to my M260, did you ever get an answer? Thanks, Jeff. Problem: No response, no turn-on, dead player! help!by mtx410 on Aug 28, 2006 I was loading files, when the transfer locked up, and the computer threw an error. i couldn't do anything but unplug the player! After I did this, i tried plugging it back in, and half of the world "initializing" popped up on the screen, the first half was missing! it did not do anything more. so i unplugged it again. Now when I plug it in, nothing happens. The computer recognizes that new hardware is plugged in, but cannot recognize what it is. Nothing comes on the mp3 player's screen. It will not power up when i hit the power button. It has no response, it acts like there is no battery in it. I have taken the battery out, and put it back in. Nothing happens when any of the buttons are pressed, or when it is plugged into the computer. Is there anything I can do to get this thing working again! It is the M260 if that matters.
