It is a multi handset phone with the base being a corded phone. There are two cordless handsets with the phone. The phone service is in pulse, but the phone is on tone. How can it be changed on this model?
I can't find any mechanical switch or progammable option to switch from tone to pulse. I can't find any mechanical switch or progammable option to switch from tone to pulse.

Re: GE Phone Model 25881
Per the instruction manual, there is supposed to be a switch on the base (look on the back or bottom) for TONE/PULSE mode.
Here is a link to the manual:
http://www.home-electronics.net/GE/ProductDownloads/25881EE3_IB.pdf
In the "troubleshooting" section, there is this entry:
Dial tone is OK, but can?t dial out:
Make sure the TONE/PULSE setting on the base is set to the type of phone service you are subscribed to.

Do you mean the GE DECT 6.0 30524 corded/cordless phone? For this landline telephone, you can switch a call from one handset to another (or the base) by using the Intercom feature. Press del/int on the handset or Int on the base and choose a handset number (use the CID +/ phonebook -) buttons (if multiple handsets are registered) or select base from the handset. Press Menu/OK to page the other handset or base. Once that device answers the incoming Intercom call, press and hold Del/Int or Int to create a conference call (both handsets or handset and base listening). Press Del/Int or Int to switch from the Intercom call back to the call on hold. Hang up on the first handset if the person on the second handset will continue to speak to the original caller alone. See pages 24-25 of the manual to see the directions. The direct link to the manual is currently https://www.101phones.com/pdf/ge/30524-user-guide-english-f.pdf .
For any landline phone, to forward a call to another phone number, you need to subscribe to a forwarding option with your telephone company. Check their information for initiating call forwarding.
If you have a different 30524 phone, please add a comment with the manufacturer.
If you mean you'd like to add another handset to the base unit on this phone, I'm afraid you can't. This isn't a multi-handset phone and isn't expandable. If you want the kind of system that has the main base unit and several separate handsets, you'll have to start fresh with a new system. They aren't expensive.
1/15/10 To fix this issue: 1.Unplug the Unit 2.Unplug the Phone Cord 3.Disconnect the Battery from the Handset 4.Wait 10-15 minutes… and put back together in Reverse Order 5.Connect the Handset Battery 6.Plug-in the Phone Cord 7.Plug-in the Unit
here are some tips from my manual for out of range problems hope they help • Only one handset can be used to make or answer a call anytime. If another handset attempt to do so, the screen will display OTHER HANDSET ON and then OR OUT OF RANGE. You might press PHONE or SPEAKER again until no other handset is using the line. Use the call transfer feature to transfer a call to another system handset or use the speakerphone feature so multiple members of your house can be on an active call at the same time. • Move the cordless handset closer to the base. You might have moved out of range. • Ensure that the base is powered up. • Place the cordless handset in base cradle for 1 minute to allow the cordless handset and base to resynchronize channels. • If the cordless handset is in its base and the charging light does not come on, refer to the charge light is off in troubleshooting guide. • Reset the base. Unplug the unit’s electrical power. Wait for 15 seconds then plug it back in. Allow up to one minute for the cordless handset and base to reset. • Other electronic products can cause interference with your cordless phone. Try installing your phone as far away from these types of elec tronic devices as possible: wireless routers, radios, radio towers, page towers, cell phones, intercoms, room monitors, televisions, personal computers, kitchen appliances and cordless phones.
Unfortunately that is the untold story about cordless phones they only have the capability of 1 open line be it the handset or or the base. There are some very pricey multi line systems, I have the same system bought two extra handsets and found out too late that I can only use them one at a time! Sorry probably not the answer you were looking for but thats the reality...

Ge Telephone Solutions Handset can not link. • If any handsets become inoperable, place it on the main base
cradle for 20 seconds to re-register. No dial tone • Check or repeat installation steps • Make sure the base power cord is connected to a working
electrical outlet. • Make sure the telephone line cord is connected to the base unit
and the modular phone jack? • Disconnect the base from the wall phone jack and connect another
phone to the same jack. If there is no dial tone on the second phone, the
problem might be your wiring or local service. • The handset might be out of range of the base. Move closer to
the base. • Make sure the battery is properly charged (for 16 hours). • Ensure the battery pack is installed correctly. • Did the handset beep when you pressed the TALK/CALL BACK button?
Did the in use indicator come on? The battery may need to be charged. http://www.home-electronics.net/ge/pc/IB/25922GE2_IB.pdf
I
was having the same problem with the same model phone, and fixed the problem by rebooting the phone – unplugging the
AC and phone cord from the base station and plugging both back it, then removing and replacing
the handset to regenerate the security code.
I can't find any mechanical switch or progammable option to switch from tone to pulse.
