Where is the feed dog located - Singer 7436 - INGENUITY

The feed dogs will either drop or your machine came with a cover plate that fits over the feed dogs.

Addendum:

If there is not a lever somewhere to drop the feed dogs, then your machine probably has a separate cover plate among the accessories. It fits on "top" of the needle plate and actually covers the feed dogs so they do not contact the fabric. Do NOT remove the feed dogs!!! You will create BIG issues doing that.

In the middle of page 15, it shows installing the feed dog cover on the machine.

With the straight stitch set to zero the feed dogs should be down. To use a different number will make the feed dogs rise above the plate.

Not sure if this model has a Feed Dog switch. May be located in area covered by storage portion of sewing bed. May be located on back side of freearm area will be indicated by multiple triangles near the switch.

You don't actually have to lower your feed dogs, lots of people FMQ without lowering, or you can tap a small piece of heavy paper (like an index card) over your dogs and poke a hole in the paper for your needle to go through which effectively takes the feed dogs out of commission too.

There is a switch on machine to raise feed dogs up/down. Remove any extension table to locate it because many of these options are located in the back of machine & hidden by table! Jimmy :)

There may not be an option. Try this - set the stitch length to zero. This should stop the movement of the feed dogs.

Tape an index card over the feed dogs with a hole punched out for the needle to enter and exit.

A cover for feed dogs is available with sewing machine/ parts dealers.
It is is a simple stainless steel plate that sits above feed dogs but not quite touching them.

During use the feed dogs still move but yr cloth is resting on the cover only.
