Washer stops half way through rinse

I have a Roper RAS6233KQ Top Load Washer. Before i put two pillows in the washer it was working fine. The tub if full of water. If the dial is turn to re start the rinse cycle it starts then when it is half way done it stops.

  • Anonymous Jan 27, 2008

I didn't wash pillows, I washed a comforter. But the rest of this post could have been written by me! That's EXACTLY what my problem is! Now what? (I've restarted the washer in the rinse cycle several times; it agitates and runs for a bit and then shuts itself off at the same point every time.)

My Roper top load washer stops in mid cycle and will not drain or do anything else

Most of the time that is lid switch failure. The lid switch must be engaged before the tub can spin. You can bypass the lidswitch to see if that is the problem. The lidswitch has 3 wires. 2 live wires and one ground wire which is green and bolted to the frame. Tie the 2 live wires together and see if the washer will work. You can use it that way but is could cause harm if anyone was to try and grab clothes out the tub while it is spinning full blast.

I had troubles with my washer going through a cycle and stopping when it got to the rinse cycle. I put in a new timer, the machine worked great through part of a cycle but again quit just at the rinse...

Verify that BOTH hoses are hooked up to the correct water inlet and they are TURNED ON and FLOWING. Your condition acts like hoses are reversed, and the hot (cold actually) is turned off, that will cause the machine to stop on the rinse cycle....

My machine stops working after the rinse cycle and won't go into the spin cycle. The water stays in the tub and will not drain. I have unplugged and replugged the machine just to make sure. I wanted to see...

It sounds like the Drain pump may have stopped working. After the rinse cycle, the machine should drain the water and start spinning. The Drain Pump should be at the bottom of the machine.

My Roper RAS6233KQ washer wont drain or spin.

If the washer fills and doesn't do anything, or stops right after the wash cycle and then does not advance to the rinse cycle and drain, this is commonly caused by a lid switch malfunction. The lid switch is usually mounted under the washer top casing, on the right hand side on most top load models. It is activated by a plastic piece on the lid (called a "Lid Strike") through a small hole on the rim of the wash tub opening. In many cases the lid strike breaks off the lid, or the lid switch becomes loose and no longer makes contact. Inspect the lid to make sure the lid strike is still intact, and then inspect the mounting screws (adjacent to the small opening on the wash tub rim) and make sure they are snug. If you determine the switch to be defective, the following link explains how to replace one:

If the switch requires replacement, a new one can be purchased on line at searspartsdirect.com, pcappliancerepair.com, repairclinic.com, appliancepartspros.com. Just use your model number as your search criteria. All these sites offer competitive pricing, so shop all them for the best price.

Roper washer ras6233kq

Hello, So unit should fill with water though right? Just no spin and drain. more than likly you have a bad lid switch. look and see if there is a hole somewhere on the frame. usually on the lid you will see a actuator that plunges into the lid switch. When you close the lid you should hear a click if there is no click you a bad lid switch.
