How are you charging it?, if your charging it on the computer it slowly decreases the batery life everytime you charge it ( as in it last for 5 hours to 4 and a half) so i suggest you start using a wall charger in future :)
It is a very commom comphenion, the original canon nb-4l battery often decrease its capacity and won't charging normally after 30 charge/discharge cycles or so.If you don't want to miss the important shots, get a cheap higher capacity replacement canon nb-4l battery as a spare power bank in hand.
Hey General Chao, Unfortunately, battery life can largely depend on how any given device is used - the louder the speakers or the brighter the LCD screen, the shorter a battery will maintain its charge. The 25-hour battery life quoted by the manufacturer may simply be an estimate based on the lowest possible settings for player volume, backlight and display settings. This means that the average user will probably encounter a significantly shorter battery life, especially when using maximum volume settings to compensate for ambient noise or other interference. If you're still concerned, remember that you can always contact the manufacturer for further assistance at their toll-free hotline: 877-467-4289. Should your MP3 player be suffering from an actual hardware failure, Insignia may be able to provide you with additional trouble-shooting support or repairs if necessary. Hope this helps you out. Get a replacement from Philips if it seems abnormal and you are still under warranty. 8-9 hours is normal battery life for this unit - the product specs are "ideal" - not relaistic. No way to dim this unit.
