Dell 3100 printer ghosting

Since my printer was new, I can't print a page of labels without ghosting. I use Dell toner cartridges and have replaced the black, once. Is this a flaw in Dell lazer printers? Is there anything I can try?

Ghosting can be caused by two things. Either too much toner is being laid down which incurs a starvation of it. Or, the image is being repeated due to a problem with the drum. In your case, I want it to be the "too much toner" deal, because a drum replacement can definitely be more costly in comparison to a design change. Yet, if it is under warranty, the drum will be replaced at no cost.

Toner exhausted and replace toner how can solve this error without replace new cartridge

When the toner cartridge is exhausted or empty then the printerwill not be able to print further documents or the prints will be very faint. You may be able to print a few more pages by removing thetoner cartridge and shaking the toner cartridge in a horizontal position a fewtimes and then placing it back into the printer. This will give you an opportunity to print a few more pages and giveyou time to purchase a new toner cartridge for your printer. A cheaperalternative is to purchase a re-manufactured toner cartridge for your modelprinter. A re-manufactured printer cartridge also replaces worn partsas well as refilling with toner powder.

Ghost printing

Hello,

You have a worn image drum. The drum is the part of the printer that the print image is created on before it transfers the toner to the paper. This part is coated with a very thin layer of Teflon so the toner does not stick. When it gets worn the toner starts to stick and that produces the shadow or ghost image approximately 3 inches down the page because the diameter of the drum roller is 3 inches. You will need to get the part DR-350, Office Depot has them as well as many places on the internet.

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

Hi there i just replace the toner for my m5200 dell printer and the pages are coming really dark as if the pages are burnt.

Are you using Dell branded cartridges, or compatibles? I've seen issues with compatibles not properly seating when you install the toner cartridge, causing the cleaning blade to not properly wipe the drum (ghosting) or allowing too much toner on the drum (black pages, front and back). Re seating the cartridge should resolve.

1/2" white line appearing down right side of page

Try replacing the toner cartridge. This seems to be a problem with the photo-sensitive drum, which is located in the cartridge.

Poor print quality

After you have printed a page remove the toner cartridge and look at the drum underneath, is there a ghost image of what has just been printed on it?? if so the cleaning blade is faulty and you'll need to replace the toner cartridge - this is the most likely cause of your problem.
Your printer does have a fuser and it can be replaced, but i don't think it's the problem.

Laser printer problem

For starters aftermarket cartridges are just not like the new ones from Dell. I quit using aftermarket ones long ago to save these headaches, with Dell you can get on Dell Chat and they will gladly help with issues like this. Try that with "Bob's Printer Cartridge and Music Rental" you won't get anywhere.

Dell 1600n has been ghosting lately

The 1600n AIO (all-in-one) is a laser printer. Laser printer use a statically charged "drum" to place toner on the paper. Your ghosting problem may be from the drum itself becoming too charged or simply dirty and not the cartridge. Servicing laser printers is tricky business because they use a lot of wattage/voltage to create the static charge and also "bake" the image onto the paper. A very quick fix would be to de-ionize the drum and clean it thoroughly.

First, make sure you have the unit completely unplugged for, at least, ten to fifteen minutes before proceeding to ensure that all static charge has had a chance to dissopate.

Second, remove the toner cartridge and place it on some newspaper or paper towels. Inspect it for any residual toner and/or damage that may be causing the ghosting (look for cracks/grooves/lines in the cartridge that shouldn't be there).

Third, take a used dryer sheet (or one that's had most of the chemical fabric softener rinsed off and then completely dried) and wipe the entire drum to completely remove any static charge. Then, using denatured alcohol and static-free, lint-free wipes clean the entire drum to remove any remaining detritus. Allow to dry thoroughly before proceeding.

Last, wipe the drum down, one final time, with a clean dryer sheet or lint-free cloth. Reassemble the unit and replace the toner cartridge.

Run a few clean sheets (blank prints or copies) to further remove any particles knocked loose and check for any more "ghosting."

Final printing will be necessary to check for inconsistencies or success.
