    it was an option,
first blueray laptop is 2006, by samsung
in desktops even sooner and more easy.
here is what you do to see truth.
first look at try front , most will say
BLURAY there, etched in words front tray
or remove the drive chassis from PC read top lable. way2,
    way 3, is windows
    click control panel
    click device manager.
see min? (its fancy burner, does all disks made)
    BD is bluray
BDR is same but records (aka burning)

answering for all PCs, ALL blu-ray disk failures.....
NO MEDIA stated, a store bought movie is best.
to test, for sure.(blue box and all)
BD-r disk home made is 100% different answer.
    BD: only:
1: The PC must have a BD disk drive
2: it must show up in device manager first
3: it must show up in diskmanager next (D:)?
4 then and only then will it show up in explorer. and play.
5: then VLC works, best player there is.

no statement what is there to play
    music?
    or video,? or what>>?
    family photos?

in explorer you will see folder of files on any Blu-ray real movie disk if not see above tests.

the desktop tower only had dvd upgrade offered
    in 2009.
it is not a laptop and was sold in UK not USA.
no uSA support for it here.
only in UK. or other countries, acer support.
    so buy the BR drive
put it in and upgrade to windows7 from vista.

Maybe the disc drive in your laptop doesn't support playback of Blu-ray discs. Get an external Blu-ray drive and play your Blu-ray discs with it. You may also use the external Blu-ray drive to rip your Blu-ray movie to MP4 or other video formats so that you can easier watch them on your computer or even your mobile devices. If you are interested, check out detailed instructions of How to rip Blu-ray to MP4 in here: How to Rip and Convert Blu ray to MP4 with Blu ray to MP4 Converter

SOURCE: New PC not accepting mini DVD-R disc

I also have an X1200 desktop, and encountered the same thing. Since they just put a regular optical drive on it's side, mini discs fall out, but the drive has small lips that can hold a regular disc without a problem. As mentioned previously, there is no solution other than turning the computer on it's side. (this is one of the quirks of owning a mini desktop)

You might try to go into the device manager and remove the device. Then let Windows find it again.

If this doesn't work, we can try something else.

I can not play blueray disc

If it plays DVD discs but not blue ray the issue may be with the optical unit inside the player--Blue Ray is more complex and a problem usually with the optical pickup will show up there first, possible dirty or failing optical pickup in the unit.

Won't play a blue ray disc

The blueray eye is out. You will need a new blueray player. The only problem with that is the ps3 will only respond with the orginal parts it came with. ( i.e. motherboard blueray player ) So the best bet is to buy a broken blueray player and take the eye out and replace it with yours just the eye not the whole thing.

Is your DVD a Blueray or Just a DVD.
You can play a DVD on a blueray but the blueray will not give a good performace on a DVD. So since you are playing blueray on DVD, your computer is seeing machine code while playing and sees that the code needs updating, but doesn't know what to upgrade. And you can't change the software to a blueray because it is the laser in the machine that reads what is on the disc, not windows... but the output is read by windows Media

When tv is wired to media center and then to blueray dvd , disc will not play. Non blueray disc will play. When tv wired directly to blueray player, blueray disc runs fine. Cables are hdmi

Hi.

When you say disk will not play I assume the BRD player does not start playing.

If the Blue ray unit does not start at all and stays in stand by , then the HDMI cable you are using to connect to TV, or HDMI port on TV may be defective.
Try replacing cable and swapping HDMI ports.

My laptop (has a blue ray sticker) cannot seem to play blue ray

Go to the device manager and see if the device manager sees a blue ray player. Just because there is a sticker or a bezel on the drive doesn't always mean that is what you have. I have had several clients that had the same situation and were dumbfounded to learn after I ran a diagnostic that there dvd burner was just that a cd/dvd player. If you do confirm that you have a blueRay, I would suggest going to Acer and downloading the software and the drivers for that drive.
