Question about Canon PowerShot SD400 / IXUS 50 Digital Camera
I can see my pics I have taken but cant take any more pictures, viewfinder black? the view mode is ok, it looks like it take the picture but its all black ?
My camera has exactely the same symptoms!
Mine did it after my wife jumped in the lake with the camera in her pocket.
To make things worse, she tried to turn it on while still wet, even though I told her not to.
So my guess is that it is the CCD immager.
Is it possible to replace that?
Any other tips.

Oh my gosh. i had the same thing happen to mine. And one of my friends had it happen to her to. Good thing we got a lifetime waurentee because we had to get brand new cameras! They said the lense was cracked! No matter how careful we were with it, they said it's still able to happen!

Sounds like a defective CCD imager. Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. Please check the following two links for more info:

If you're not getting anything at all on the screen, it's possible that the screen is broken. This has happened to me. If you're willing to try it, go on eBay and buy an "AS-IS" version of this camera, I got mine for like $40, and simple swap the screens. It's not that hard. If you need help doing this. I'll post more detailed instructions (that is if that's actually the problem).

Have you tried the DISP button. This is a display button for the LCD. You can take the battery out for 10 minutes. That will reset it. You can download the user manual here:> http://alpha03u.c-wss.com/inc/ApplServlet?SV=WWUCA900
