Blue splotch appeared in lower right corner of the screen

An asymmetrical area of blue has appeared in the lower right corner of the screen. Is this something I can fix or do I need a professional?

I also have the blue ring. I have had to replace the lamp twice now in 2 years time and the middle of the screen has a yellow area.

blue ghost on bottom right of screen. where can this optic assy (light engine) be purchased? Does anyone know a part number for this item?

We have a 44" Zenith LCD. Under warranty the light engine was replaced at 1 year. Later on the remote would work randomly. Then the lamp warning light came on and we bought a Phillips OEM bulb and replaced it.

Could NOT get the warning light to reset. a couple months after lamp replacement we have an elongated oval blue area in the black background and the remote still works randomly.

Saw the post about Zenith LG's awesonw customer support and will try to caontact them about doing the right thing and replacing this, altho I doubt it.

Looking fro a new TV but now am not sure what is the best way to go, LCD or Plasma and which MFG isn't having issues ?

I had a 52" Zenithe LCD with the same problems that you are discribing and since I work in the industry I have a relationship with a couple of authorized service centers. I took a digital picture and emailed it to both of them and both replies were that the light engine was going out and it would be cheaper to buy a new one than to fix this one. That is the bad news, here is the good news. LG/Zenith has lost a class action lawsuit regarding the light engines in the LCD rear projection TVs. The settelement includes extending the manufacturers warranty till 2010 and/or repayment of money paid to fix, calibrate or replace the TV.

Been in touch with Lg electronics and they have agreed to buy me out of my tv or replace it with a Refurbished LCD of the same size. Even though I am out of warranty this shows great customer relations in my eyes.

This is a chronic failure with this unit and the optic assy (light engine) is the problem. This part is only available rebuilt and cost is around 500.00 and requires a qualified service professional to repair.

Over time (usually a short amount of time) this problem while progress until the picture is bad enough that you will want it fix immediately. So, it's good that you are looking into this now :) Here is a PN for the Optical Block... PN: A-1084-668-A I hope this helps.

My picture has been getting a blue area in the lower right hand corner of the screen and it is getting bigger farther along the bottom and the right side, also noticed a ring or outline of a circle when...

It is light engine that is going bad and causing blue haze/ clouds etc.
It is an expensive part, and I would recommend a new TV instead of its repair.
Thanks.
