Ok so im not the most knowledgeable about computers. I have been getting the blue screen of death on this computer and i feel that it is due to a hardware failure on the mother board. On this mother board there is a small fan maybe 1" in diameter, that is not functioning. I have tried to get it off the board but have been unsuccessful at doing so. Is there some trick to getting these off and were would i be able to find a replacement.
Hi wilson756168,
Here is the link to buy a new replacement chipset fan:

You'll need to become a member & sign into Asus to order a new chipset fan or you can call Asus directly. I know there are four black pins with tiny springs on the back side of the board under the fan. Its been so long since I changed one of these. It may be best to wait until the new one comes in before removing the bad one. Another option would be to call Asus tech at 1-812-282-2787 IL M-F 8-5:00PM EST and ask for "How to remove fan" from a tech.
Or you can buy a better chipset fan that will last longer & cool far greater than Asus fan.
(Best option).
