Advent 9215 keyboard malfunction

Advent 9215 keys 9,O,L,,down arrow not working. USB keyboard attached and all fine. Have tried Fn + Num Lock but still not functioning. All other keys are ok

Hit "FN" and the "NUM Lock" key together to unlock it.

Yes you can go into your display properties and look in the settings tab and look for advanced click that and open color tab or the overlay tab, color tab should get your brightness turned up, And if you can't see you can go into your bios and adjust your brightness from there and get it back to where you can see it if you can't write me back here so we can try another method. Ok I hope that helps you out somewhat, Oh yeah you can also hook up an external key board into your usb connections and you should be able to work everything from that too.

had the same prob on my laptop which doesn't have a seperate number pad so all I needed to do was to press "Num lock".

then on "screen keyboard"
there you will see the numlock button hilighted.
single click on num lock key.
ur problem is solved.

Number lock key

1. Please tap the NumLock key many times and see if it responds to the tap,

2. Probably your keyboard is in "Alt Fn" mode, so please try to hold the Fn key and tap the Fn key (I prefer to tap the left arrow and right arrow) and see if the keyboard is working properly.

3. Probably your keyboard is failed. It happens, even there is no spill accident. In this case, you need to replace the entire keyboard.

Unlock number lock

On a laptop, the "Num Lock" key has a function slightly different than the one it performs on full-d desktop keyboards. Activating "Num Lock" on a laptop usually transforms a set of central keys, including many letters, into number keys, allowing typists used to entering numbers on a keypad to type efficiently. While on desktop keyboards "Num Lock" usually has a dedicated key, on laptops it often shares a key with another function on MacBooks, for example, it shares the "F6" key and you must hold down the "Shift" or "Fn" key to activate it.

Look for the "Num Lock" key on your laptop's keyboard. This is usually near the top of the keyboard. If the key says nothing on it except "Num Lock" if that's the only function the key performs you can just press it to activate the lock; a light will probably go on somewhere to indicate that "Num Lock" is on. If the key has multiple functions, you'll have to hold down a different key while pressing it. Hold down "Shift" and press "Num Lock" if the writing saying "Num Lock" appears above some other writing on the key, the way various symbols appear above the numbers on the keyboard's number row. Hold down "Fn" and press "Num Lock" if the writing saying "Num Lock" appears in a different color often light blue that's shared by the "Fn" key.

I cannot shut off the 'fn' key from its calucations display.

If you press and hold the Fn key and then simultaneously press the Num Lock key at the top right of your keyboard you either enable or disable the Alternative Symbols of the following Multi-symbol keys:

Num Lock Disabled: M . / J K L ; U I O P 7 8 9 0
Num Lock Enabled: 0 . / 1 2 3 + 4 5 6 - 7 8 9 *

Half of my letter keys when i type are numbers???????

You have number lock on "num lock" fine that key on youre keyboard (ussualy top right) and press it. If its colored then press it with function key "fn" left down side of keyboard.

Hi,

It sounds like you have your Num lock on. To disable the Num Lock either just hit the Num Lock key (its usually on the top right hand side of the keyboard) or hold down Fn and then hit the Num Lock key.

Hello, your numlock keys are ON, find your Num Lock button and press it off.
It can be a 2 button combination like FN(function button) + Num Lock button. Then it should work.
other way is to press numlock on your external keyboard and then disconnect the board. see if it works.

Keyboard Issues/Errors

I would gather that your keyboard has been changed somehow to another country keyboard. Please check in your control panel, keyboard and see if eng usa is selected.

The other suggestion is pressing and holding fn key, num lock key at the same time. You should see a light going off and on when you do this on your system.

If keyboard selected is english, and num lock is off, I would turn your keyboard upside down and give it a good shake. Sometimes a paperclip, or staple gets underneath the keys.

Function keyboard turned on advent QT5500

Hi

Try this my friend,

Press F12, Num Lock, and FN at the same time.
OR F12 and Num Lock/ Scroll Key.
OR Hold the Ctrl and Fn key down together and press also
the Ins(Num LK) key.

Post me whatever the result is... so we could Fixya the problem.
