It might test ok resistance wise but might break down under the load of the television in operation. Then again it depends on how badly it was burned.

Repair Sony nsx-40gt1 tv, no picture, 2 red blinking lights where normally green. Is the power supply board bad, t-con bad or main board bad. Who sells repair manual?

Hello Eric,

shopjimmy has the circuit boards and gives live support..

Check out the URL below.

Also consider getting an anti-static wrist band... so you don't destroy good semi-conductors with tiny static sparks.

Further information on that is under "ESD"

Power board for 37pf5521d

hello!
You don't need to replace power supply in most cases. If you can to the board itself, it buried deep under metal shield, up side down, remove it from the set by unscrewing 6 machine screws, unplugging few plastic connectors. Be careful, connectors are fragile, gently move those in every direction, while pulling out male part of connectors. You will find at least 1 "bloated" electrolytic capacitor, remove and replace those. It's good have "in circuit" capacitor checker to determine quality of "hot side" of power supply capacitors. If you won't find and replace those, small: 1mf 10mf or 22mf, your set will start up, might even work fine for a while, then will quit for good! I've seen that happen! If you don't have capacitor gizmo, then replace all small electrolytic capacitors on "hot" side of power supply. "hot" is that side, what connects to main power in plug area, contents one large capacitor, I.C. chip diver, power mosfet, etc. worst case scenario: if you can't replace those parts yourself, remove the board and take to local TV repair shop. It won't cost you that much to do so, compare to complete TV repair.
Good luck,
Alex.

Tv will not turn on straight away can take up 30 minutes with on button clicking on/off while waiting for the tv to come on

Depending on the model number of this tv, you may find an electrolytic capacitor on the power supply panel,  2200Uf @ 10volts, usually blue in color, if the top has popped up it's bad.  You need soldering skills and a new capacitor to repair.  Be careful of +/- polarity or the new part will pop again.

There is a red blinking light on the bottom right side of the set and the TV will not power on.

You have a blown power supply, most likely caused by defective electrolytic capacitors that if are electronically handy can be replaced for a few dollars.
Here is a link to some one who experienced what you are going through and how he got his repaired for less than $30.

Defective electrolytic capacitors from China are a rampant problem. Cheap Dell, computers fail all the time because of this problem. I repaired my Commercial grade $2500 Samsung 42inch LCD monitor for the very same reason. I was able to open up the case fairly easily and remove the board, replace the defective capacitors with much better grade caps and be on my way, has worked great ever since.

My 50 inch philips plasma tv has a bad smell coming from it. what is it and what can i do

The sypical source of a bad smell is electrolytic capacitors that are failing. Please UNPLUG this unit and have it repaired. There is a slight but definite chance of fire. This is not a major repair effort at this time, but a delay will significantly increase the repair cost. Please have this serviced ASAP.

Thanks,
Dan

Tv will not turn on

Greetings!

Depending on the model number, there are a number of things that could be wrong. Even within a given model number there are a number of possibilities. I have seen everything from rectifiers to horizontal outputs to bad electrolytic capacitors to bad solder connections kill these things. If you are skilled and experienced these are a few things to check. If you do not have repair experience then please stop, put the back on it and get it to a repair facility. I rarely have estimates declined on these because you can not replace it for less than most repairs will cost.

Good luck!

Bad picturre on toshiba tv

Good Day, pieps57;

Corrective Action: Remove the MVUP13 Hyper Module from the TV chassis, remove the top shield and replace the 10uf, 16v capacitors using Part Number 24619040. It’s recommended that all of the capacitors identified be replaced (Note: These capacitors are low impedance surface mounted aluminum electrolytic capacitors. Care should be taken to avoid damaging the PCB while replacing these capacitors.) CAPS: cx178, cx221, cx230, cx241, cx250, cx261, cx270, cx541, cx670 & c514, c5030.

Horiz. lines across top of screen.

I agree with solution #2

I recently had my phillips 27" model 27PT6341/07 repaired after warranty expired due to white lines appearing at the top of the screen. The shop advised that it was a capacitor giving me the problem. So, after getting it back, I examined the repair job and the shop had replaced a capacitor at the back of the main board, next to the rear rca inputs. It is labeled 10uf 100v. I was told that it would fail again soon because it is a manufactures defect. For me it is at location 2465. Here are a couple of photos of the part.
