Put brand new batteries in. The battery empty message means there is no "juice" or power left in the batteries. If they are recharagable batteries, "re-juice" them (charge them).

The battery empty message still means the batteries are dead. Your camera is draining the batteries very quickly if they are only lasting a week. Some cameras will drain batteries more quickly than others. A couple things to help you are: get batteries made for digital products,(they last longer) or get rechargable batteries so you are not spending so much on disposable ones. Also, don't use your LCD screen unless you absolutely need to (such as scrolling through your pics. to view) as this drains batteries very quickly. Hope this helps. By the way, thanks for the "no help" rating.

I just posted a comment that did not sound right after I went back and read it. Oooops! The comment I made about thanks for the "no help" rating should have read: thanks for not rating me (before I had the chance to continue helping). Sorry if this came across the wrong way.

The above is service and repair information for your camera.

Even, the manual says that you can use alkaline, NiMH, or Oxyride batteries. which are generally 1.25V for each AA, try the Lithium batteries which are 1.5V. They might work in your camera if your camera has some characteristic where the voltage falls below a certain limit and the 'battery empty' message shows up.

They are more expensive, but might solve your problem, even though the manual says that Lithium batteries are not to be used (in a new properly functioning camera)

Even after putting new batteries it gives message"change the batteries"

Are you still using alkaline batteries? If so, alkaline batteries just don't have the power for more than a few pics in a digital camera. Some may have reached their shelf life, and though brand new, may even have problems just powering startup of the camera. Digital cameras for the most part should only be used with rechargeable NiMH batteries. Retailers sell these for around $7 for a package of four (about $15-19 for the batteries with charger). Keep in mind they'll save you big bucks in the long run over alkalines, AND they'll last for at least 100 pictures per charge (and probably many many more). You'll be very pleased with their performance, and may slap yourself for not buying them sooner. When at the store, look on the package for a power rating of at least 2500 mah.
