Remove subtitles from Dynex TV DX-19E220A12. Anyone know how to do this please? Thank you.

What is the TV source (input)? Usually the captions are only controlled by the TV if your source is Antenna/Cable (using the RG-59/RG-6 cable input). If your source is a set-top box (HDMI, component or composite video), consult the documentation for that source.

If your source is set to TV, press Menu (on the remote or the side of the TV). Use the Left/Right arrows (or the Channel buttons on the TV) to select Settings and press Enter (input button on the TV). Use the Up/Down (or the volume on the TV) arrows to select Closed Captions and press Enter. The highlighted menu item should be CC Mode. Use the Left/Right arrows to choose Off. Press Enter to save the setting. Then press Menu to change another setting or Exit to leave the on-screen menu. See page 31 of the user manual available from ManualsLib here: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/445548/Dynex-Dx-19e220a12.html . The current link to the page is https://www.manualslib.com/manual/445548/Dynex-Dx-19e220a12.html?page=35#manual .

Some set-top boxes will have a caption control button on the remote control. Others have more difficult steps. On my IPTV box, I have to press Menu, select Settings, then enter a pass code provided by my provider. Then I enter the Hardware settings and find the closed captions menu under Audio Settings. On an old Dish receiver, the caption controls depended on the system mode. Since the receiver could serve a primary and secondary TV, captions could be viewed on the primary set or both. They could only be changed at the primary TV.

I hope this helps.

Cannot get closed captioning turned off on my 46 inch dynex lcd. The setting is off, yet still have closed captioning

Try the basic "re-boot" most digital devices respond to - pull their AC supply plug out for 10 minutes, reconnect, re-setup if asked to and problem may well have been sorted.

I have a DYNEX 42"

Do you have a cable or satellite box connected to the TV? If so the box is probably what is providing the Closed Caption and not the TV.

My closed caption on my new dynex 26L 150A11 will not turn on. I have followed all instructions in the book. I need the cc. any one have an answer? thanks cosycat

Hi,

There are several possibilities here so you will need to work with me to resolve this problem. In order for Closed Captioning (CC) to work, you need to make sure the CC settings are correct on the TV, and then make sure they CC is switched on. In addition, if you are using a cable or satellite receiver box, CC also needs to be switched on for these "boxes".

It's easiest to start with the TV. Please make sure you have done the following:

1. Check the Closed Caption settings are as follows from the TV on-screen menu as follows:

a) Press the "MENU" button on the DYNEX remote
b) Press the RIGHT arrow twice to highlight the "SETUP" menu
c) Press the DOWN arrow once to open the "SETUP" menu
d) Press the DOWN arrow twice to highlight "CLOSED CAPTION"
e) Press the RIGHT arrow or the "ENTER" button once to open the CLOSED CAPTION MENU
f) Make sure the Closed Caption option "CC MODE" is set to "ON". This can be changed using the UP/DOWN arrow keys to highlight "CC MODE" and using the LEFT/RIGHT arrows to switch between off and on.

The "Basic Selection" and "Advanced Selection" settings are for analogue and digital closed-captions respectively. In addition, the "Options" sub-menu can be used to change the size and style of the digital closed captions (Advanced Selection). All three of these options should eventually be set according to your personal preferences, but for the purposes of making sure it is working, I suggest you set them as follows:

Basic Selection = CC1
Advanced Selection = Service 1

These options are the basic settings which will display only the spoken dialogue of the TV program.

g) Press "EXIT" on the remote to close the menu and return to viewing mode.

2. Press the "CCD" button on your Dynex remote control. This can be found in the bottom right-hand corner of the remote. Each press of the "CCD" button will cycle the closed captions between ON and OFF. (CCD means Closed Caption Display)

3. Check the Closed Captions are displayed and then adjust the Basic and Advanced Selection options until the type and appearance of the closed captions are how you like them.

If you have done the above and still cannot get it to work, please let me know whether you are using a cable or satellite receiver and the brand/model number. I will then be able to assist you further.

BElectric

Under captions setting what cc1 and tx1etc. mean?

the tx is a box with writing in it, whereas cc is closed captioning, which is just writing on the screen. if the tx is unavailable, you will get a black screen. try the cc if you want closed captioning. good luck!

Black square in middle of screen

You have selected a text option and there is no text available. Also pressing the display button on remote could turn cc and text on or off. the black box is a text option not closed caption. page 70-72 in owners manual might explain better.

Closed captioning

The closed captioning decoder circuit in your TV set may not be working, or the closed captioning information from the station may not be present. Start investigating by finding out if there is actualy closed caption from the station that you are tuned in to. If so, then call the tech support for your set to know if there is something that you missed in the set-up for the closed captioning. It may be very simple. If all of this does not work, then the closed captioning decoder in the set may not be working properly and require service.
