Q1 My BC296D will only run for 10 minutes after being charged iu.e. befor the low battery sign comes on and the 15 sec beeps start. I have changed the battery but this has made no difference. It runs fine on the plugpack.
Q2 Is there any way to monitor the battery charge?
I have the same problem :-( And also bought a new battery just to fund it doesn't chargeI have the same problem :-( And also bought a new battery just to fund it doesn't charge

If you have a volt meter you can check the battery voltage, and also the voltage of the charger. If the batteries are nicads expect 1.2 volts per cell if they are the AA or AAA size, 1.5 volts for the nickel metal hydride cells. the voltage of the charger should be equal to the total voltage of the batteries it is chargeing.

Battery level is low, you need new batteries - the ones in this cart are getting old. Batteries only have so many charge/discharge cycles and this is a warning light telling you the output from your batteries has become marginal.
I suggest that you check your charging system. With the ignition off, measure the battery voltage, then measure it again with the engine running. The voltage should be higher with the engine running, by 1 - 2 volts. This is a just a quick check, but if the charging system isn't working at all, the voltage will not increase when the engine is running.
take a source like an adapter or some which has an output voltage of atleast 3 times that of the battery like say if you have a AA size NIMH battery then try using a 5Volt adapter with atleast 500MA
now hold the positve wire to the +ve of the batter and negative wire to the - ve of the battery (BE SURE OF THE POLARITIES esle u'll destoy the batery completly) and hold it for not more than 10-15 secs and then quickly place for charging in the battery charger
No sorry to say this is normal for this camera! you may want to look for rechargable lithium batterys (they will last longer in a high drain device such as your camera!

THE battery MUST be charged with the correct charger. Assuming that is the case new batteries need to be cycled a few times before they come good...Also you MUST use the exact same spec battery in mAH. if you are using ni-cads they need to be fully discharged to a safe low level before recharging as they suffer from memory effect...ni-mh type the need to be charge cycled a few times before they come good. There are problems with all types of rechargable batteries...Makers have still not reached perfection..never leave a radio always connected
to the ac line , this will stagnate the battery/cells causing problems you must use your device on battery power in order to cycle the same. This is the main reason why laptop batteries have a short life. [email protected]
