The internal light bulb in the microwave is out. Can you tell me how to get to the bulb to replace it. I know you take the exhaust grate off the front. After that I am at a loss. This seems to be a very reoccuring problem with this model. Any ideas on how to keep this bulb from going out so often?
Forget about doing it yourself. You have to remove the entire cover to do it. After removing almost all of the screws, I found that two of them require a special tool which only appliance repairmen have. It looks like it would take a "star" screwdriver, but it is a special star with a hole in the middle. I ended up taking mine to a repairman. Then he had to special order the bulb because it is molded into a plastic base, not a screw-in bulb.

On many newer ovens, they have to be removed from the wall so you can remove the outer cover to replace the bulbs on top of the chassis, in the rear, or near the hood openings.
This is a safety measure to protect the customer from line voltage and high voltage.
It's important to have clean and dry hands when you handle the new bulb, especially if it's a halogen type.

Unplug the microwave and wait a bit before starting to replace the bulb. To change the bulb, you first need to take off the entire cabinet (remove 4 screws on the back of the microwave and lift the part up). Then see the parts diagram on the page given above. There are 2 screws that hold the switch and bulb assembly to the frame of the microwave. I believe you should be able to pull the bulb housing down from the middle of the assembly and then push the unit up after replacing the old bulb with the new bulb. However, the bulb housing may have two screws holding it in place.
A lot of those you can replace the bulb without taking it down. There should be screws at the top that lossen up the vent in the front. Remove the vent, might have to open the door and slide it to the left (a little latch) then you should see a filter that just comes out and behind that is the bulb. I would try that before taking it down Forgot to mention that in the other e-mail.
I had the same problem! I was soooo frustrated! But, when my brother came to town, he took off the grill on the top of the micro hood, took out a few more screws, a plastic screen, another screw in the metal cover for the light and then reached in with his fingers to pull out the light bulb, we replaced it, then re-assembled it. It did take us about 30 minutes to do the job and you will need a phillips screwdriver, and a phillips screwdriver drill bit thing, but we were able to do it. I love having the light in the microhood again.
On many recent models, it is necessary to remove the mircowave from the wall, then remove the cover to change the cavity bulb.
They suggest that only an authoirzed servider replace them, in order to avoid liability.

Do not handle the bulbs with bare skin, it will shorten their lives. Use a clean dry cloth or gloves.
