Hiya I've got two computers at home connected by Netgear DG834G. For a short period of time, both the computer didn't have proper access to the internet. Now, my main computer has a internet connection whilist the one connected with the wireless network hasn't. There seems to be no internet whatsoever, and the netgear itself isn't connected to the computer :s. When i try to connect to the internet on AOL, it says that the DNS server is unreachable or unavaliable. There was also a message saying i have a "I.P. conflict with a computer connected to the network". I was hoping that someone could help me fix the problem before the new year =). thanks for the help.
If I understand you correctly you currently have a computer connected directly to your ADSL Internet connection and it can connect to the Internet. When you disconnect the computer, connect the DG834G router to the Internet connection and then connect the computer to the router you loose the Internet connection. It sounds like a ?simple? case of the router not being configured correctly. What I would suggest is to reset the router to its default configuration and follow the installation instructions again from the start. I?m not a big fan of the software configuration wizards that these home routers come with BUT they are the best way to easily configure the typical installation. To reset the router: in-between the 4 Ethernet LAN ports and the ADSL port there is a small reset button. Press and hold the reset button until the test LED turn on (about 10 seconds). Release the button and wait for the router to reboot. Let us know if this works or not. If you still have problems the more details and error messages you can supply the better.

I couldn?t find a download link for the SmartWizard on NetGear?s site so short of calling them the next best option is to try the manual installation method. Your manual should have the process but the process is also outlined here:http://kbserver.netgear.com/inquira/defa... I personally find this method far easier but then again I didn?t think Windows back in the 90s was easier either .
Also in case you haven?t already found it here is the link to NetGear?s troubleshooting procedure for this device:http://kbserver.netgear.com/kb_web_files...
Again Good luck and let us know how it goes.

thanks for the solution so quick =).
yeah i reseted my settings and tryed to reinstall the wireless network on the connecting computer.
it's a weird problem though i don't think its anything too technical. Just that when i try to load up the Netgear CD in the computer, the program never loads up and it doesn't work manually either.
Basically I'm at the part when i need to reinstall the wireless network on the alternate computer, but i can't do it without the Netgear cd loading properly :(.
cant get connected
While taking backup of installed OS in hard-disk using Redobackup, After some time the backup process hangs and it is disabling Internet connectivity to all other computers and gateway IP being unreachable from all other computers in the network. During the start-up of Redobackup live cd, it was getting IP using DHCP.
